“Super Nintendo World Theme Park Coming to Universal Orlando in 2023”
If you’ve been getting pumped, or even considering an expensive ticket to Japan, because of the news about Universal Studios’ Super Nintendo World park, you might want to hold off a little longer. According to a recent announcement from executives at Comcast, owner of NBCUniversal, the Nintendo theme park is planning to expand to Universal Studios Orlando in 2023.
Speaking of expanding, this addition is just one part of a larger plan that will have the Universal Orlando resort doubling in size. The park will be located on the same 750-acre property where visitors can find the Islands of Adventure parks. The initiative will add over 14,000 workers to Universal’s current force of 25,000 Orlando workers, with minimum wages starting at $15.
When we recently posted about the Universal Studios Japan version, we mentioned some of the interactive elements that are on the way, which will effectively turn the experience into a sort of real-life video game. While there are no major details, the power-up wristbands are coming over, giving visitors a chance to collect digital coins and compete against one another in immersive games.
Here’s what Universal Creative’s senior vice president and CCO, Thierry Coup, had to say about it:
“You’re not just playing the game; you’re living the game, you’re living the adventure … Nintendo’s most iconic locations and experiences will be brought to life, including Mushroom Kingdom, Peach’s Castle, an incredible Mario Kart ride, Bowser’s Castle – and more.”
Stay tuned for more on this as we gradually approach 2023!
