Asteroid in Love Gets Earth Science Trending on Japanese Twitter -BB

Anime has the power to get viewers interested in entirely new hobbies and disciplines—just look at Laid-Back Camp and Yowamushi Pedal. This season’s Asteroid in Love looks to be poised to work the same magic for the field of earth science!

The new series, based on the Manga Time Kirara Carat manga by Quro, follows the adventures of an earth science club: a combination of astronomy and geology. Our protagonists hope to discover an asteroid, and their zeal for earth science got the term trending on Twitter in Japan recently!

The first two episodes have been well-received by viewers so far, with many calling it „calming“ and „healing.“ Others have mentioned specific desires to look into geology and earth sciences as a result of watching the first two episodes.

„Earth science“ (chigaku) made it into Twitter Trends in Japan just after last Friday’s episode, and discussion is still going strong. Even though it hasn’t cracked US Twitter trends, there’s still lots of love for the show, its science, and its characters.

Asteroid in Love is simulcast on Crunchyroll Fridays at 7:30 am PT.
