#Crisis On Infinite Earths' Ending Pays Off A Flash Season 1 Tease -BB

Crisis on Infinite Earths‘ major finale not only set the stage for the Arrowverse’s next chapter: it also paid off a massive tease from The Flash season 1. The CW’s multi-franchise had its biggest event with the 5-hour saga adapting the iconic DC Comics 1985 storyline. As it paid tribute to DC’s live-action history, it primarily moved the Arrowverse forward for the next couple of years; not only that, but Crisis „Part 5“ also saw the Flash fulfill a prophecy that was introduced in the series‘ first season.

The events of the TV Crisis was first put into motion as early as season 1 of the Grant Gustin-led drama, The Flash. During the final minutes of the series premiere, viewers discovered the now-infamous newspaper headline teasing at Barry Allen’s future involving a crisis. Since then, the DC TV realm on The CW grew as shows like Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and then Batwoman joined the franchise. Through Easter eggs, nods, and various setups, the Arrowverse slowly, but surely, kept building up to the iconic Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline, which back in 1985 redefined DC Comics‘ continuity. As the newspaper headline of the Crisis changed from happening in 2024 to 2019 instead, The CW had spent more than 5 years earning its execution of the crossover. However, while The Flash pilot may have set the stage for Crisis, it wasn’t the only thing foreshadowed in season 1.

The first season also teased a massive chapter that officially began in the last scene of the final hour of Crisis on Infinite Earths. In season 1, episode 20, „The Trap,“ Barry, Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) discovered Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) aka Eobard Thawne’s secret Time Vault,  which contained Gideon, an interactive A.I. that Barry would one day create in the future. As they engaged with Gideon, the recurring A.I. began listing everything she knew about Barry Allen.

Starting with „Barry Allen, director of Central City Police, CSI Division. Also known as the Flash, founding member of-„, Gideon gets cut off right as she was about to likely say „the Justice League.“ Despite the interruption, it became evident back then that Barry would one day be part of founding the iconic DC league of superheroes in the Arrowverse. This foreshadowing increased even more so during the 2016 crossover event Invasion when the Hall of Justice made its debut. Initially revealed to be an old S.T.A.R. Laboratory hanger that Barry inherited from Eobard’s time as Dr. Wells, hardcore DC fans recognized the building’s similarity to DC Comic’s Hall of Justice — what this building was meant to become.

The S.T.A.R. Laboratory hanger is identical to the iconic headquarters of the Justice League in the comics. While it never gets called the Hall of Justice, Crisis on Infinite Earths officially makes it the Arrowverse’s Justice League base for future situations. What will likely happen off-screen leading up to future events is the hall getting a needed interior make-over. It wouldn’t be surprising if the next crossover has the base being re-designed to be properly equipped and ready for the team at any given time. Earth-Prime currently has characters like Cisco, Brainiac 5 (Jesse Rath), Peter Gambi (James Remar), and Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson) as active tech-members on their respective shows. It’d make sense if they, together or individually, have a big hand in redesigning the Hall of Justice in coming episodes or seasons.

Ultimately, not only does Barry get to be one of the founding members of the Arrowverse Justice League, but the Scarlet Speedster also got to provide the team’s HQ. What started as a small tease in The Flash’s first season ended up being one of the biggest payoffs in the crossover. With Earth-Prime officially having its own version of the Justice League, it will add another fun layer for future crossovers, thanks to Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Easter egg that The Flash season 1 provided.
