Stateless follows the real-life story of Cornelia Rau, an Australian permanent resident who was unlawfully detained by the immigration detention program. This won’t be the only story we follow, though. Rau’s experience has inspired other stories that focus on the broken immigration system.

The series will center on four strangers all detained in an immigration detention center in the Australian desert. The first is an airline hostess escaping a cult, second is an Afghan refugee seeking to escape his persecution, third is a young man caught up in a national scandal, and finally, there’s a young father wanting a new life. While detained, their lives will intersect.

Stateless consists of six episodes, all available to stream now on Netflix. Will you be watching?
