#Saw 2020 Movie Reboot Title Possibly Revealed -BB

Much of the Saw 2020 reboot from Chris Rock has been kept tightly under wraps, but recent information has announced that the movie’s title may have been revealed.

While it was previously using its working title, The Organ Donor, sources like IMDb have listed the project as „Untitled Saw Project“. Director Darren Lynn Bousman is returning to the helm for what will be the ninth Saw movie. The franchise began in 2004, and introduced audiences to serial killer Jigsaw, the alter ego of John Kramer (Tobin Bell), who murders by setting elaborate traps for his carefully chosen victims, who are expected to make major sacrifices in order to escape. The film’s concept was taken from a story by Chris Rock, and was written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger. It will be distributed by Lionsgate, and will release May 15, 2020.

According to JoBlo, the Saw reboot’s actual title is Spiral: From The Book Of Saw, which is an interesting choice that raises a lot of questions. Similarly to how the movie’s working title implied that someone might be picking up the mantle from Jigsaw to force people into organ donation, the „book of Saw“ could also imply a similar train of thought; perhaps the villain won’t be Jigsaw this time, but someone taking pages from Kramer’s book. Chris Rock has teased that humor will be involved in the story, but it will have a focus on all the traditional horror elements associated with the franchise as well. Additionally, Bousman has teased that there is at least one scene in the upcoming film that might give the infamous „needle pit“ scene a run for its money.

Stolberg confirmed that the upcoming film will exist within the franchise’s canon universe, but will not be a direct sequel nor a reboot. On Twitter, Stolberg wrote: „…it’s NOT a sequel to Jigsaw. It’s DEFINITELY in the timeline of ALL the films though.“ Details regarding the cast are relatively unknown, though it has been announced that Chris Rock’s character, Zeke, is a police officer. Samuel L. Jackson is playing his father, Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale) is Zeke’s partner, and Marisol Nichols (Riverdale) will be playing police Captain Angie Garza. The film seems to, at least in some sense, follow the traditions of the Saw franchise with a police investigation surrounding a series of murders that relate, somehow, to Jigsaw. A lack of details released seems to coincide with the choice to keep the film a mystery for as long as possible, which has been an issue with horror films in the past. Some movies have been met with harsh criticism from fans for revealing too much information, particularly in trailers, ahead of time.

However, the next Saw movie doesn’t seem to be adhering to that structure at all, especially since it releases in May. Originally, the film was slated for release in October, as all previous installments have been, but its October 23rd release date was pushed up significantly. This was likely done to avoid any overlap or competition with Blumhouse’s franchise giant, Halloween Kills. As announcements on the next Saw movie continue to roll in, stay tuned for more information.
