“Clone Wars: BATTLE TALES To Be Told in New Comic Book”
The final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is coming soon to Disney+. However, fans will soon have another option to get their Clone Wars fix beyond just the streaming series. IDW will be releasing an upcoming comic mini-series entitled Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is an incredibly popular series in the Star Wars franchise. Beginning in 2008, Clone Wars told incredible stories featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Skywalker’s padawan Ahsoka Tano, and several more dynamic characters as they battled and fought in the raging war between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems led by Count Dooku. The series created and revealed new layers to the Star Wars mythos, providing new insights into the Jedi, the Force, galactic politics, the schemes of Darth Sidious, the distinct personalities of individual clone troopers, and countless more engaging dynamics of the war.
The series went on for five seasons on Cartoon Network, with the sixth season released later on Netflix. Now, a seventh and final season is finally coming after five years to Disney+. This upcoming season will hopefully provide some conclusions to arcs that were left unfinished. If the latest trailer is any indication, the series looks to promise high action and drama, providing epic battles and confrontations that fans have come to expect from the beloved series. However, fans will have even more Clone Wars enjoyment courtesy of IDW.
Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales will be a weekly comic book mini-series coming in April from Michael Moreci and various artists. The mini-series will run for 5 issues, similar to IDW’s Tales from Vader’s Castle series. Like Vader’s Castle, each issue of the series will feature a different tale from the Clone Wars era, with transition pieces being told between each, in this case, clone troopers sharing war stories.
Along with the announcement from the publisher, Moreci shared his love for this specific time period in the galaxy far, far away: “The Clone Wars era is probably my favorite in all of Star Wars. It has it all — big adventure, sweeping romance, Force mythology, Jedi powers, and, of course, the awesome clones. This event series is going to bring together all the best, evergreen parts of Star Wars and weave a story that longtime fans (like myself) and new, younger readers (like my own kids) will definitely love.” It certainly looks as though Moreci will make sure that the Battle Tales being told will honor the tone and epic level the Clone Wars era is known for.
All in all, it looks like Star Wars (and more specifically Clone Wars) fans will have plenty of new adventures and battles to keep them busy in the coming months. Here’s the description of the series from IDW:
“While Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and other Jedi Knights fight against incredible odds, Commander Cody, Captain Rex, and other clone troopers are pinned down for the duration, swapping war stories that feature favorite characters from The Clone Wars animated series, such as Padmé Amidala, General Grievous, and many more!”
Star Wars Adventures: The Clone Wars – Battle Tales #1 comes to comic book stores on April 1st.
