„Justice League: Test Snyder Footage Shows Brutal (Toy) Batmobile Action“

A new test video reveals some Justice League concept footage of the Batmobile running over Parademons. It’s well known by now that Justice League was massively overhauled after Zack Snyder left the project and the resulting version of the movie was a critical and box office let down, spawning a massive campaign to release the Snyder Cut.

Thanks to this impassioned demand, every bit of Justice League concept art and behind the scenes footage is meticulously examined by fans seeking to glimpse Snyder’s true original intent for the DCEU team-up movie. Snyder himself has confirmed (on multiple occasions) that his cut of Justice League exists, composer Junkie XL has verified he wrote the score for the movie before he was fired, and some VFX supervisors have also revealed that a significant amount of VFX work was completed.

A new video posted to Instagram by Justice League stunt coordinator Freddy Bouciegues shows an animated sequence of a toy Batmobile running over Killer Croc action figures serving as stand-ins for Parademons. Bouciegues told Screen Rant he created the video as a proof of concept with fight coordinators Matt Rugetti and Mike Lambert as they determined the best process to pitch ideas for Justice League’s 3rd act. They ultimately ended up working with animators to create their action pitches, but the concept video still includes a taste of some of the raw action the Batmobile was in for in the movie’s original finale.

Another video surfaced back in November featuring stunt-vis of the movie’s major battles revealing a much more visceral style of action than is seen in the Justice League final product. Zack Snyder movies have a reputation for their unflinching depiction of violence, so it may not be the biggest shock that this is the direction Justice League was headed, but it certainly is a stark contrast to the theatrical cut and shows just how severely re-written, reshot, and re-edited the film was. Despite a fleeting moment or two of classic Zack Snyder iconography, the action in Justice League was a much tamer shadow of what was originally shot.

The campaign to get „Zack Snyder’s Justice League“ (his apparently preferred name for his cut) isn’t letting up any time soon, and the charitable contributions of fans to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a core part of most organized campaign efforts, recently passed $150,000.

Zack Snyder also announced a poster design competition for fans, so regardless of what happens in the near future, Zack Snyder’s Justice League isn’t a topic that’s going to simply go away. Warner Bros. representatives have reportedly claimed the Snyder Cut release is a pipe dream, however most speculation currently points to HBO Max as a much better home, which would also be the most economically sensible course of action.
