„Star Wars: 5 Best Things Kylo Did For Rey (& 5 Best She Did For Him)“

Kylo Ren and Rey have had an excellent emotional arc together throughout their time in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, both as individuals and as a pair. They are undoubtedly one of the trilogy’s best pairings, and two of the saga’s best characters, but their relationship, like many in the saga, has been strained by a lot of awful things done, by them, to each other despite their strong Force connection.

However, despite them being on opposite sides, the two have done some incredible things for one another. Even before Kylo was redeemed and reverted to being Ben Solo, he still cared for and did some things for Rey that were purely good, just like she had for him. Here are the best things Kylo Ren and Rey ever did for each other.

10 REY – CONFRONTS LUKE ABOUT TRYING TO KILL KYLO

Throughout the trilogy, Kylo and Rey’s relationship developed massively and in The Last Jedi, after seeing Kylo as nothing but a monster, Rey starts to come around on Kylo after a couple of interactions.

When Kylo tells Rey his recollection of the night Ben left Luke, it differs from what Luke told her and rather than shun it off as nothing but a lie, Rey actually seemed to believe it. On top of that, Rey confronts Luke about the entire thing.

9 KYLO – AFFIRMS SHE IS NOT ALONE & LETS HER ACCEPT HER PAST

Kylo never did many purely good things throughout the trilogy. A lot of the good things he did do were circumstantial in that had he not done such awful things, these good things would not ever have to be done.

But while if he were not evil this situation would never have happened, he still assured Rey of her not being alone, telling her multiple times that she has him and that he knows her. On top of that, he also allows her to accept her past or at least the past we thought was real in The Last Jedi.

8 REY – HAS HOPE IN BEN SOLO

Rey is the light side character of the sequel trilogy, and while her status as what has been long known as a Jedi has been in question, there is undoubtedly mirroring qualities between her and previous Jedi, namely her master Luke. One such quality is hope.

Just like Luke famously during the original trilogy towards his father Vader, Rey keeps hope in Kylo. She maintains the idea that good remains in Kylo, not abandoning the thought that he can be turned back to the light to be Ben Solo once more.

7 KYLO – DOES NOT WANT TO KILL HER OR GIVE HER TO PALPATINE

The Rise of Skywalker sees the return of Palpatine, and when Kylo confronts the former Galactic Emperor intending to kill him, Palpatine makes a proposition to Kylo which would mean he had to kill Rey. However, when Kylo talks to Rey, he makes clear his intention is not to kill her.

Again, if Kylo was not evil, craving the power to kill Palpatine, massively torn, confused, and had some amount of love for Rey, this good thing would never have needed to happen. However, Kylo could easily want to kill Rey and take the power Palpatine offers, but does not, making clear he would rather Rey joined him than having to kill her. In saying that, though, Kylo does vow to kill her should she not join him, which does take away from this whole thing overall, but the fact he did not want to initially shows the spark of light in him.

6 REY – TRIES TO TURN HIM

This harkens back to the previous entry of Rey not giving up hope in Kylo. So many times people have or maintain hope in something or someone, even in the Star Wars franchise, but Rey took it a step further and put her belief into practice.

Numerous times through their encounters in the last two movies, Rey keeps trying to convince Kylo to bring Ben back. In the elevator to the throne room, Rey tries; after battling the Praetorian Guards, Rey tries; numerous times she tries to bring him back to the light, to the name of Ben Solo.

5 KYLO – KILLS SNOKE, NOT REY

Speaking of the elevator to the throne room, it leads to one of the best things Kylo has ever done for Rey, and to probably the turning point of not only Kylo’s story but of the entire trilogy — the confrontation with and death of Snoke.

Kylo had a clear choice between killing Rey and going further into darkness as Snoke’s apprentice or to kill Snoke. Kylo chooses the latter, saving Rey’s life in a moment where he could easily have killed her. While he ends up not joining Rey, almost betraying her as he takes the mantle of Supreme Leader, he still chose her over Snoke.

4 REY – USES THE FORCE TO GIVE BEN THE SKYWALKER LIGHTSABER

When Kylo Ren turns back to the light into Ben Solo and arrives on Exogol, he finds himself facing off against the Knights of Ren. Ben is severely outnumbered and looks to be done for before he and Rey share a look through the Force.

The shot then moves to show Kylo pull from behind his back the Skywalker lightsaber that went from Anakin to Luke (to Maz) to Rey, now to Kylo which Rey has transferred to him through the Force. It saves his life and is one of the best moments of the movie.

3 KYLO – GOES TO EXOGOL TO HELP REY AND FACE PALPATINE

As mentioned above, The Rise of Skywalker sees Kylo Ren redeemed and back into Ben Solo following his duel with Rey on Kef Bir. Rey leaves Kylo/Ben stranded on the ocean moon but later, while Rey confronts the Emperor, Ben arrives.

Solo found his way off of Kef Bir to get to Rey on Exogol, helping her, solidifying his turn back to the light side of the Force. Without Ben Solo arriving to help Rey, there is no real telling what would happen or if it would have made a big difference to the Emperor’s death, but it did save Rey eventually and was a fantastic gesture just to find his way there.

2 REY – HEALS KYLO

In The Rise Of Skywalker, the pair’s final duel sees Rey fulfill her best act towards Kylo in what would be her and Kylo Ren’s final meeting with one another.

Once Leia calls out to Kylo asking for her son, it distracts him, and in that moment of distraction and shock, Rey stabs him. She then realizes what was happening and in that realization, she decides to heal the wound she inflicted on Kylo. He was impaled in a way that he may have survived, but likely not for long without care. Rey either saved his life or at the very least healed a serious injury.

1 KYLO – HEALS REY & SACRIFICES HIMSELF

As said above, Kef Bir was Rey’s last encounter with Kylo Ren. When they meet again on Exogol, he is back to Ben Solo. After battling the Knights of Ren and Palpatine alongside Rey, Ben repays the favor Rey did for him that little bit further.

When Rey mustered the power to communicate with the past Jedi and defeat Palpatine, it used the last of her life energy. As Ben climbed from the hole Palpatine put him in, he limps towards Rey’s dying body, sits down, holds her, and heals her. Not only does he save her life, but he also sacrifices his own life to save hers.
