“What To Expect From BH90210 Season 2”
Last Updated: January 24, 2020
Will BH90210 season 2 happen, and if so, what will it be about? The original cast of Beverly Hills 90210 – minus the late Luke Perry – reunited for an ambitious revival series with a very meta twist: this time, Jason Priestley, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, and Brian Austin Green played heightened versions of themselves as they tried to launch a reboot of Beverly Hills 90210.
BH90210 season 1 was filled with all of the drama fans could want: after a testy reunion at 90210‘s 30th anniversary event in Las Vegas, which ended with the cast arrested and thrown in jail, they reluctantly decided to work together once more to produce a reboot of the 1990s FOX series that made them famous. However, elements of the ‘real world’ intruded on their plans: Jason Priestley learned that his wife Camille (Vanessa Lachey) got pregnant by another man, Jennie Garth fell for her bodyguard, Tori Spelling had to solve numerous problems as the reboot’s producer, Ian Ziering lost his marriage, Gabrielle Carteris discovered she was interested in women, and Brian Austin Green learned he has a long-lost son. If that’s not enough, Shannen Doherty joined the reboot and upended everything as fans would expect her to.
Even with the BH90210 season 1 finale, the story isn’t over as the West Beverly Gang struggles to get their reboot series off the ground. Dramatically, the revival is poised to continue, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like BH90210 season 2 is in the cards.
While BH902010 season 2 long seemed like a cant miss prospect, on November 7, 2019, FOX officially canceled the meta revival series. BH90210 debuted to stellar ratings on FOX in August, making it the highest-rated summer series premiere in two years. However, the ratings continually slid downwards throughout the season, and that seems as likely a reason as any for FOX’s decision to drop the axe.
The cast of BH90210 season 2 would’ve continued to include the six core stars, including Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Gabrielle Carteris, Ian Ziering, and Brian Austin Green. The original 90210 gang was thrilled to get back together and was pleased by the fan response to their reunion, although it was speculated that they might’ve wanted increased salaries for season 2. Shannen Doherty seemed to somewhat foresee BH90210 season 2 not happening, telling US Weekly last August: “I think we should just focus on the six [season 1 episodes] because — no projecting into the future.”
BH90210 season 1 was about the gang attempting to launch a Beverly Hills 90210 reboot and Tori Spelling told E! News that BH90210 season 2 would be about the show-within-the-show. This means that after spending all of season 1 facing numerous roadblocks to getting their reboot off the ground, BH90210 season 2 would’ve finally shown the series the cast has been laboring to launch. Meanwhile, in BH90210‘s ‘real world’, Tori Spelling would’ve continued to reconcile her feelings for Brian Austin Green, Jennie Garth would’ve come to terms with her attraction to Jason Priestley, who had unexpectedly learned he might be a father, and Gabrielle Carteris would’ve further confronted her changing sexual orientation. Sadly, none of that will now come to pass in a BH90210 season 2.
