#Star Wars: 10 Ways The Franchise Can Bring Ben Solo Back -BB

It’s over, Star Wars fans. The release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker marked the end of the Skywalker saga, started by George Lucas in 1977. He would complete six films between 1977 and 2005 before selling Lucasfilm to Disney, after which two new film makers would complete his nine-part epic space opera surrounding the Skywalker family.

JJ Abrams directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where he introduced the dark side warrior Kylo Ren as the villain of the sequel trilogy. In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, he chronicled his all-too-brief redemption, giving fans but a small taste of his heroic light side persona, Ben Solo. The Dark Prince of Star Wars became a Disney Prince right up until true love’s kiss, and then he was gone. There’s been an outcry from Star Wars and Reylo fans (who always supported a Kylo Ren/Rey pairing) demanding Disney include him in future Star Wars ventures. Here’s 10 ways Ben Solo can be brought back into the franchise.

10 EXEGOL IS KEEPING HIM ALIVE

By leafing through the pages of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, Exegol has a „transportative vergence“. The Sith Eternals constructed the Sith Temple on Exegol precisely because of these fissures of energy, which are hinted at being the restorative means by which Palpatine survived after Return of the Jedi.

It’s therefore possible that after being hurtled off of the precipice by Palpatine during the final fight with Rey in the throne room, Ben Solo fell into one of these transportative vergence fissures. When he faded away after Rey’s kiss, Exegol may be what revives him.

9 HE FORCE PROJECTED HIMSELF

When Emperor Palpatine used the Force to blow Ben Solo out of his throne room and over a precipice, he seemed to fall into a pool of light off screen. Rey and Palpatine face off in confrontation, and he’s absent for the entire engagement. By the time he’s seen crawling out of the precipice, the incredible amount of energy Rey used to defeat the Emperor has killed her.

Ben Solo may in fact be elsewhere, and simply using the same technique his master did to confront him on Crait. Master Skywalker acknowledged that he had a gift of powerful raw talent, so perhaps he was able to use it to Force project. When he „disappeared“ after saving Rey, he simply recalled that projection to his physical body’s location.

8 HE’S IN THE CAVE ON AHCH-TO

When Rey was training with Luke Skywalker, one of her exercises involved going deep under the ancient Jedi dwellings on Ahch-To and confronting her fears. She wanted to know who her parents were, and she thought the cave would have answers, much like when Luke entered the cave on Dagobah under the guidance of Jedi Master Yoda.

The cave resonated strongly with the Force, and reacted particularly to Rey’s pull to the dark side. There are some Star Wars fans that believed the cave on Ahch-To and the caverns of the Sith Temple on Exegol are connected like a conduit, and when Ben’s body disappeared, it reappeared on Ahch-To, possibly behind the mirror.

7 HE’S IN THE WORLD BETWEEN WORLDS

Star Wars: Rebels introduced the World between Worlds, a place where various characters got sucked into, residing in a sort of „purgatory.“ It’s possible there’s an access point similar to inside Lothal temple on Exegol, which he discovered only when the Emperor knocked him over the precipice.

In the World between Worlds, he could see everything that was happening to Rey, and make a decision to return to that point in time to help her. However, after using so much Force energy to restore her life, he gets sucked back in and trapped, forcing Rey to find a means to access it herself and save him.

6 LUKE IS TEACHING HIM HOW TO BECOME A FORCE GHOST

Qui-Gon Jinn, a powerful Jedi Master and student of the Living Force, was the only Jedi in recent memory to be able to materialize his essence into a visual state. Though non-corporeal, this „Force ghost“ retained aspects of his memory, though the process was painful, as each time he was forced to manifest himself into a former timeline of himself.

He taught this power to Jedi Master Yoda, who has made great use of it over the years to manifest to manifest to Luke Skywalker. It’s possible that if Ben Solo did indeed become one with the Force, his former master would instruct him how to become a Force ghost himself so that he could manifest to his loved ones at will.

5 THE POWER OF THE DYAD IS NOT FULLY KNOWN

Emperor Palpatine pulled strings to obtain the power from both Kylo Ren and Rey, using them against each other until he got them both to Exegol. He referred to them as a „dyad“ in the Force, unseen for generations, and he siphoned their life force from them to obtain its essence.

We don’t know that much about a „dyad“ except that it is something vaguely referenced in Jedi texts. But we do know that Rey and Kylo Ren were able to telepathically communicate across space, pass objects between them in time, and even touch despite the distance. If one half of the dyad lives, can the other ever be one with the Force? It’s possible that Ben Solo’s link with Rey could be keeping his essence alive somewhere.

4 HIS MOTHER TRADED PLACES WITH HIM

For all intents and purposes, Leia Organa slipped into a coma in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker after she helped bond with Ben and help him be pulled to the light side. Her memories and his helped conjure Han Solo, who was able to share some parting wisdom with his son.

When Ben was able to save Rey by transferring his life force into her, he faded away, presumably becoming one with the Force at the same time Leia’s body faded away. It’s possible that Leia gave the rest of her life Force to him, and combined with the transportative vergence on Exegol, he may be returned to the living.

3 HE’S GOING TO BE SEEN IN A YOUNGER FORM

Disney has been in talks to develop a prequel live-action series for Disney+ involving Ben Solo as a young apprentice to Luke Skywalker. It would fill in some of their relationship by showcasing his turn to the dark side and manipulation by Snoke before he became the Supreme Leader of the First Order.

While this approach would make sense of the streaming service, much of that time period is being fleshed out in the comic book series The Rise of Kylo Ren, and audiences may not be interested in watching Ben Solo’s training if he’s much younger.

2 HE’LL BE BROUGHT INTO THE NEW EXPANDED UNIVERSE

After George Lucas created his original trilogy, Star Wars fans didn’t know there would be future Star Wars films, and had to content themselves with the Expanded Universe created by authors of novels and comics books to see what their favorite characters were up to.

After the sequel trilogy, Disney has decided to create a New Expanded Universe that will become canon, exploring the further adventures of characters it introduced. Ben Solo’s tails may live on in the NEU, especially if Adam Driver doesn’t return to the big screen to play him live.

1 HE’LL FEATURE IN A NEW FILM

Given the outcry for more Ben Solo from Star Wars fans, there have been rumors that Disney is developing films in its New Expanded Universe for 2021/2022. It would highlight the future of Rey and Ben together, training a new Jedi Order, which would include Finn who has embraced his Force sensitivity.

This will all depend of course on whether or not Disney can convince Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega to return to their roles from the sequel trilogy. Driver is notorious for cutting all ties with a character once he’s done filming.
