Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku Manga Has Surpassed 9 Million Copies in Print
In the year-end web PVs for Fujita’s love comedy manga series Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii / Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, Ichijinsha confirmed that it had printed nine million copies in Japan so far.
The manga telling a love story between two deep otaku (Narumi Momose: a so-called fujyoshi and Hirotaka Nifuji: a gamer) was first posted onto Pixiv, the largest Japanese online community for artists in 2014, then has been serialized on Pixiv and Ichijinsha’s co-operated web comic site comic POOl since November 2015. Its latest eighth tankobon volume was released on December 13, 2019.
Its 11-episode TV anime adaptation animated by A-1 Pictures was aired in Japan from April to June 2018. Furthermore, its live-action film adaptation directed by Yuichi Fukuda (Gintama live-action film series) is set to be released on February 7, 2020.
