With theatrics like Marine choppers, tailgating and Queen songs that give the feel of \u201cpart rock concert, part playoff game<\/a>,\u201d Monday\u2019s Trump rally in a small Pennsylvania town, \u201cespecially in the moments around Trump\u2019s \u00adentrance, was exuberant,\u201d observes the Washington Examiner\u2019s Timothy Carney<\/a>. It was a clear celebration of \u201cthe farmers, coal miners, gun-owners and bikers\u201d who have been \u201ccrapp<\/a>ed on for years by both parties, by the \u00admedia<\/a> and by academia, getting to be the champions.\u201d The outcasts are \u00adeager to celebrate \u201ctheir guy, riding in on a military chopper.\u201d For anyone who thinks Trump\u2019s campaign is based only on \u201cdarkness and carnage,\u201d Carney advises, \u201ccome to a Trump rally in Middle America, and you\u2019ll start to wonder if he ever campaigned at all, or instead just held a series<\/a> of parties.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative: Biden\u2019s Lightweight Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t quite that Joe Biden \u201chas canceled all in-person campaign events for the remainder of the campaign,\u201d but his paucity of appearances still \u201crepresents a remarkably light schedule,\u201d notes National Review\u2019s Jim Geraghty<\/a>. Biden is taking two full days off in this last week of October, where Hilary Clinton did 17 events in seven days the same week in 2016. The lack of activity may be a \u201cdeliberate strategy\u201d \u2014 or an unfortunate \u201cconcession to fatigue.\u201d Geraghty hopes Biden\u2019s \u201cphysical and mental health is fine. Because if after the election, he or his insiders reveal that he\u2019s been dealing with some serious health issue that was hidden from the public, the fallout will be enormous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eye on the White House: The Perils of \u2018Trump TV\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Trump-branded media company teased by Jared Kushner would be a natural fit for the president\u2019s entourage whenever he leaves office, \u00adargues James W. Antle III at The Week<\/a>. After all, Trump \u201cperfected a new brand as a populist pugilist\u201d by \u201cidentifying a segment of the market that finds his style entertaining, engaging, even inspiring.\u201d But while his base finds \u201cthe tweeting, the belligerence, the political incorrectness, the \u00adadversarial relationship with media\u201d appealing, that may not be enough to win him a second term. While the prez\u2019s showmanship might make him the perfect face for a media company, \u201cif Trump does not win \u00adre-election, it\u2019s because he has conducted his re-election campaign, and much of his presidency, like it was already Trump TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

Media watch: R.I.P, Journalistic Objectivity<\/strong><\/p>\n

After weeks of the mainstream media refusing to report on the Hunter Biden story, \u201cthere is no question that the press, which has done anything and everything to ruin Trump\u2019s presidency, will do anything and everything it can to get him out of office, including burying a big scandal involving his opponent,\u201d warns the Issues & Insights Editorial Board<\/a>. As if to prove this point, CNN\u2019s Christiane Amanpour recently declared to a Republican spokeswoman that reporters shouldn\u2019t work to verify the scandal, because \u201cwe\u2019re not going to do your work for you\u201d \u2014 that investigating a Democrat would be a \u201cviolation of journalistic standards.\u201d She effectively admitted that \u201cshe believes a journalist\u2019s job is to do the Democrats\u2019 bidding.\u201d Amanpour has received no criticism for the \u00adexchange, which \u201cshows just how deeply embedded this sentiment is among journalists.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the right: Joe\u2019s Stunning Oil Admission<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the frack was Joe Biden thinking\u201d at last week\u2019s debate with President Trump? snark Adam Goodman and Charlie Gerow at The Hill<\/a>. Biden\u2019s initial \u201cI\u2019m-kind-of-for-kind-of-against-fracking statements left progressives and environmentalists howling about his betrayal to the earth\u201d \u2014 and \u201cthe rest of the world scowling over his message of shutting down the energy industry.\u201d It placed him \u201cin an unpopulated DMZ, \u00adbetween the dog and the fire hydrant.\u201d Then, toward the end, Biden actually \u201cthrew himself under the bus, admitting he wants to \u2018transition away\u2019 from oil and gas.\u201d Trump pointed out that Biden was saying he would \u201cdestroy the oil industry\u201d and asked: \u201cWill you remember that Texas . . . Pennsylvania? Oklahoma? Ohio.\u201d No question, say Goodman and Gerow. \u201cThey already are.\u201d<\/p>\n
