Android TV might not be as customizable as an Android phone, but there\u2019s still a lot you can do to personalize it. One of those is choosing which screen saver to use.\u00a0We\u2019ll show you how to change it up.<\/p>\n

Just like on a computer, the Android TV screen saver is what you see when the device is idle. By default, it displays high-quality photos, along with the current time and weather. There\u2019s a lot more you can do with this feature, though.<\/p>\n

There are dozens of screen-saver app<\/a>s in the Google Play Store, so you can give your Android TV a brand-new look. Simply type \u201cscreen saver\u201d or \u201cdaydream\u201d (the old name for the feature) in the Search bar, and then\u00a0install the one you like.<\/p>\n

After you install the one you want, it\u2019s time to set it as the screen saver. Select the Gear icon at the top right of the Home screen to open Settings.<\/p>\n

Next, select \u201cDevice Preferences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Navigate down and select \u201cScreen Saver.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the top of the \u201cScreen Saver\u201d menu, select \u201cScreen Saver\u201d once again.<\/p>\n

Select the screen saver you want to use (ours is YoWindow).<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re using a screen saver from the Play Store, the options for that app will automatically open. Some will require more set up than others, though. Select your preferences, and then click the Back button on your remote.<\/p>\n

Lastly, you can tweak the following settings to change how the screen saver will work:<\/p>\n

  • \u201cWhen to Start\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0The number of minutes of inactivity before the screen saver starts.<\/li>\n
  • \u201cPut Device to Sleep\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0The number of minutes of inactivity before your TV goes to sleep.<\/li>\n
  • \u201cStart Now\u201d:<\/strong> View the screen saver right now. This option is perfect for quickly previewing a screen saver.<\/li>\n
  • \u201cSleep Now\u201d:<\/strong>\u00a0To put the TV to sleep right now.<\/li>\n
  • \u201cStay Awake on Music\u201d:<\/strong> If a music app is playing, the TV won\u2019t go to sleep.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Unfortunately, you can\u2019t change the wallpaper on the Android TV Home screen. However, the screen saver is what you\u2019ll see most often, so choose one you really enjoy looking at.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
