Produced by <strong>Michael Bay<\/strong>, it was a production that ran into problems almost im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely with SAG-AFTRA issuing a \u201cdo not work\u201d order to actors for the film. That order was eventually lifted, but later, another story broke accusing the film of not following COVID safety protocols. And now\u2026it\u2019s here. The first\u00a0<em>Songbird<\/em> trailer has arrived to give us a glimpse of what we can expect and the results are\u2026well\u2026see for yourself.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Songbird_Trailer\"><\/span><strong>Songbird Trailer<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Songbird | Official Trailer [HD] | Rent or Own on Digital HD, Blu-ray &amp; DVD Today\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IgxXSfto6Vo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Jesus Christ did this leave a bad taste in my mouth. It could be that I\u2019m extra stressed lately (have you heard \u2013 there\u2019s an election for the soul of the country next week and no one knows what the hell is going to h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en). It could be that I\u2019m just not in the mood for this sort of thing since the coronavirus is still around, and in some states,\u00a0<em>surging<\/em>. Or maybe I\u2019m being too judgmental. Maybe\u00a0<em>Songbird<\/em> will rise above this rather atrocious trailer.<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe not.<\/p>\n<p>In the film, the coronavirus is still around and has mutated into COVID-23 (the 19 in COVID-19 is because the virus was first detected in 2019, which implies this film is set in, or after, 2023). Here\u2019s the synopsis:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the terrifying thriller <em>Songbird<\/em>, the COVID-23 virus has mutated and the world is in its fourth year of lockdown. Infected Americans are ripped from their homes and forced into quarantine camps known as Q-Zones, from which there is no escape, as a few brave souls fight back against the forces of oppression. Amid this dystopian landscape, a fearless courier, Nico (<strong>KJ Apa<\/strong>), who\u2019s immune to the deadly pathogen, finds hope and love with Sara (<strong>Sofia Carson<\/strong>), though her lockdown prohibits them from physical contact. When Sara is believed to have become infected, Nico races desperately across the barren streets of Los Angeles in search of the only thing that can save her from imprisonment \u2026or worse.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The movie also stars \u201c<strong>Bradley Whitford<\/strong> and<strong> Demi Moore<\/strong> as a wealthy couple who may hold the key to Nico\u2019s mission; <strong>Alexandra Daddario<\/strong> as a singer enmeshed in a messy and forbidden affair; <strong>Paul Walter Hauser<\/strong> as a disabled veteran whose best friend \u2013 a drone named Max \u2013 is his eyes and ears to a world that has left him behind; <strong>Craig Robinson<\/strong> as Nico\u2019s boss; and <strong>Peter Stormare<\/strong> as the corrupt head of the city\u2019s \u2018sanitation\u2019 department, which seizes those infected and transports them to the Q-Zone.\u201d<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Trashy, exploitative <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> can be fun. They can even be subversively intelligent, in their own gross way. I have a soft spot in my heart for that sort of trash, and maybe someday I\u2019ll be able to look at\u00a0<em>Songbird<\/em> that way. For now, though, this trailer looks like a right-wing fever dream; a cinematic exploration of \u2018Merica losing her freedoms to the virus. For fuck\u2019s sake, there\u2019s a part where a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> anchor says people are being forced into \u201cquarantine camps.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The horror genre has a history of reflecting the horrors of the real world. Hell, some of the best horror movies ever made are reflections of turbulent times \u2013 the \u201970s Horror Collection currently streaming on the Criterion Channel is a great example of this, filled with films that were reacting to Vietnam and social unrest. But if you\u2019re going to take that approach, it helps to\u00a0<em>do<\/em> something with it. There\u2019s a vast gulf that separates\u00a0<em>The Texas Chain Saw Massacre<\/em> as a reflection of the Vietnam War and the makers of\u00a0<em>Songbird<\/em> saying, \u201cHey, what if we remade\u00a0<em>Cloverfield<\/em>, but swapped out the big monster for the coronavirus?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again, perhaps I\u2019m overreacting. I\u2019m sure more than one person will tell me I am.
