\n Chris Harrison compared this season of \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d with a scary movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a horror film, for a bad analogy. You know he\u2019s around the corner somewhere, you don\u2019t know which door,\u201d the longtime host told The Post. In this case, it\u2019s not a monster under the bed, it\u2019s the dramatic switch taking place this season.<\/p>\n

Rumors have swirled<\/a> since summer that Tayshia Adams would replace Clare Crawley<\/a> as the Season 16 leading lady. Though three episodes in, the hit ABC dating show waited until the end of this week\u2019s episode to finally acknowledge what fans have been buzzing about for months.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not pretending anymore, we\u2019re with you,\u201d said Harrison, 49, of the show\u2019s decision to address \u201cthe elephant in the room.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was fun for us and challenging to try to decide how and if and where we\u2019re going to lean into the rumors and lean into what happ<\/a>ened,\u201d he said. \u201cEven if things get spoiled or you might know [what\u2019s going on], you don\u2019t really know.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was a method to the madness in waiting, he explained. \u201cFirst and foremost, we wanted to make sure this was Clare\u2019s season of \u2018The Bachelorette,\u2019\u2009\u201d Harrison said, noting he was \u201cintimately\u201d involved with making the decision to bring on Adams.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s a gray area as to whether Crawley, 39, was part of it. \u201cClare needed to be allowed to drive the show and be in charge,\u201d said Harrison. \u201cIt\u2019s tough to come up with a plan when you\u2019re dealing with someone who\u2019s going to make the ultimate decision for you. [She] can\u2019t necessarily be in the planning stages of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, behind-the-scenes rumors have spread that it was the producers\u2019 idea to have Crawley leave early. Due to the coronavirus, the show could not allow the cast to travel<\/a> around the world as usual. Blogger Reality Steve alleged the double-Bachelorette decision was made so the season would have a twist and Crawley has liked tweets<\/a> supporting this theory. ABC exec Rob Mills said<\/a> the show started making calls to replace her after the last date that aired, in which Clare gifted the rose to herself.<\/p>\n

Though he called the situation \u201ca dilemma,\u201d Harrison said, \u201cClare falling in love is not a bad thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we do that in 10 weeks? Great. If we do that in a year? Super. If we do that in 10 days? Wow, OK, that\u2019s a record,\u201d he said. Crawley reportedly leaves the show with Dale Moss, whom she called \u201cher fianc\u00e9\u201d on this week\u2019s episode.<\/p>\n

Harrison is now in another quarantine bubble, filming Matt James<\/a>\u2018 upcoming season of \u201cThe Bachelor,\u201d which will start airing in January. He\u2019s also launching a new line of men\u2019s wedding rings<\/a> with the brand Manly Bands<\/a>, with prices ranging from $650 to $3,500. \u201cIs there anything more on brand and on point than that?\u201d the father of two said.<\/p>\n

Typically, engagement ring designer Neil Lane brings rings on \u201cThe Bachelor,\u201d and Harrison saw a stark contrast between the number of options for men and women.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s this massive selection of rings: What cut you want, what kind of lay you want, how many diamonds, what color, what material,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut when you get a men\u2019s ring, there\u2019s like three choices. Men really like to dive into this stuff too.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of his favorites from the collection is, of course, a rose-gold band. \u201cI\u2019ve been wearing a bunch of them. If I\u2019m at a rose ceremony I wear one ring, if I\u2019m sitting around in my blue jeans and my flannel shirt I wear another ring,\u201d said Harrison, who is dating \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d host Lauren Zima.<\/p>\n

Normally, \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d films in the spring, but was pushed this year because of the pandemic. The filming of one show and the airing of another have never overlapped before. \u201cThis is definitely crossing streams. It\u2019s a lot to keep straight,\u201d the host said. \u201cIt\u2019s a lot of promoting one show and walking out the door and shooting the other, trying to remember what I need to keep secret.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though \u2014 like always \u2014 he promised that this run of \u201cThe Bachelorette\u201d is \u201cthe most dramatic season ever,\u201d Harrison is sure he\u2019ll be saying those magic words on Adams\u2019 season too.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I say it, I really believe it,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we always outdo ourselves.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
