{"id":100935,"date":"2020-10-29T23:54:23","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T20:54:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/impostor-nurse-got-high-paying-jobs-after-lying-about-work-experience-education-doj\/"},"modified":"2020-10-29T23:54:23","modified_gmt":"2020-10-29T20:54:23","slug":"impostor-nurse-got-high-paying-jobs-after-lying-about-work-experience-education-doj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/impostor-nurse-got-high-paying-jobs-after-lying-about-work-experience-education-doj\/","title":{"rendered":"#Impostor nurse got high-paying jobs after lying about work experience, education: DOJ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Impostor nurse got high-paying jobs after lying about work experience, education: DOJ<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/nurse-feature-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        An impostor nurse who lied about her education and work experience to land a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of high-paying health care jobs has been sentenced to 65 months in prison, the Justice Department said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, identified as Sonja Emery, defrauded employers of more than $2.2 million and evaded more than $697,000 in taxes, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department\u2019s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Matthew J. Schneider for the Eastern District of Michigan announced.<\/p>\n<p>Emery\u2019s actions took place from 2011 to 2018, the Justice Department said.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, who resided in four separate states and used several aliases, including \u201cSonja Lee Robinson,\u201d during the scheme, told employers she held multiple master\u2019s degrees and a doctorate from Emory and New York universities, the Justice Dept. said.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said she never attended the schools or received such degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Emery also falsely claimed to be a registered nurse licensed in New York, Georgia, Connecticut, and California, where she provided employers with licensure numbers that belonged to other people, the Justice Dept. said.<\/p>\n<p>She then used her fabrications to land a senior VP job for an Ann Arbor, Mich., health care consulting firm earning an annual salary of roughly $285,000, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/imposter-nurse-sentenced-prison-fraud-and-tax-evasion\">according to the Justice Dept.<\/a> She later worked as a consultant for two health care-related companies in Massachusetts and Wisconsin where she was paid between $226,000 and $267,000.<\/p>\n<p>From 2015 until 2018, Emery worked as a senior executive for a county government health services agency in California that paid her a total of roughly $960,000.<\/p>\n<p>During her scamming years, Emery sometimes didn\u2019t file tax returns despite owing more than $400,000 in taxes, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe sought to avoid being detected by providing employers with different names and false <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> Security numbers, by falsely instructing employers that she was \u2018exempt\u2019 from taxes, and by supplying an employer with an identification number that did not belong to her,\u201d according to the Justice Dept.<\/p>\n<p>Emery was arrested in 2018 before pleading guilty to mail fraud and tax evasion <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/former-michigan-health-care-consultant-pleads-guilty-fraud-and-tax-evasion\">earlier this year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to jail time, U.S. District Judge Linda V.
