Legendary actor and original\u00a0James Bond<\/em> star Sean Connery has died. The actor was 90.<\/p>\n

Connery died in his sleep after a battling an illness. The actor’s son Jason shared the news<\/a> with the BBC<\/a>, revealing that his father had been “unwell for some time.”<\/p>\n

The Scottish-born star was surrounded by “many of his family” in Nassau where he had been living. “A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor,” Connery’s son added.<\/p>\n

Perhaps best known for playing the original James Bond on the big screen, Sean Connery app<\/a>eared as the character in several films throughout the ’60s, ’70s and early ’80s. Among the films he featured in as Bond are Dr. No<\/em>, From Russia with Love<\/em>, Goldfinger<\/em>, Thunderball<\/em>, You Only Live Twice<\/em> and more.<\/p>\n

He was also a one-time Oscar winner, earning Best Supporting Actor recognition for his role in Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables. <\/em>Other notable projects and works include roles in films such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade<\/em>, Highlander<\/em> and The Rock<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The actor also had roles in a few television shows and made-for-TV films including Macbeth<\/em>, An Age of Kings<\/em> and Male of the Species<\/em>. Charismatic and revered, Connery made his mark with an impressive career that spans five decades.<\/p>\n

Connery is survived by his son Jason and wife Micheline Roquebrune to whom he was married for 45 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
