\n It is not good to be a 37-year-old on a team that is turning to its young players, but that is where Jets running back Frank Gore finds himself.<\/p>\n

At 0-7, the Jets are trying to get their rookies more involved. That has meant more reps for fourth-round pick La\u2019Mical Perine at running back and less for Gore. Last week against Buffalo, Gore saw his playing time drop to 28 percent of the offensive snaps. He played just 16 plays. Gore still ran the ball 11 times for 60 yards, his best yard per carry average of the season. <\/p>\n

The veteran has been through this before. As a member of the Bills last season, Gore saw his role decrease in the second half of the year as Buffalo played rookie Devin Singletary more. Gore said his app<\/a>roach won\u2019t change as his role decreases. <\/p>\n

\u201cJust continue to be me,\u201d Gore said. \u201cWhenever my number gets called, I try to go out there and make plays.\u201d. Like I tell people, I can\u2019t play this game<\/a> forever, but I know I can still play this game. I know y\u2019all see it. I know other teams see it. When I get the opportunity, I get a fair chance, I can make things happen still.\u201d <\/p>\n

Gore is the No. 3 rusher all-time in NFL history, trailing just Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton. Gore has embraced being a mentor to Perine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis organization wants to see their young guys grow,\u201d Gore said. \u201cMe, I\u2019m going to come out every day and work hard and show him what it takes if he has the opportunity to make it as far as I did.\u201d <\/p>\n\n

There is a lot of focus on the Chiefs offense, but their defense has some studs, too. Defensive tackle Chris Jones is one of the best players in football and presents a huge challenge for the Jets\u2019 struggling offensive line.<\/p>\n
