\n Pennsylvania\u2019s secretary of state on Sunday said it could be \u201ca matter of days\u201d before all ballots in the battleground state are counted.<\/p>\n

Kathy Boockvar told NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d that 2.4 million Pennsylvanians have already voted by mail, and that she estimates there will be 10 times as many mail-in ballots than in 2016, meaning they\u2019ll take longer to tally.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expect that the overwhelming majority of ballots in Pennsylvania, that\u2019s mail-in and absentee ballots, as well as in-person ballots, will be counted within a matter of days,\u201d she said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe counties are staffing up, have a ton of equipment, best practices in place, and are planning, for the most part, to count 24\/7 until it\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n

The secretary of state also noted that \u201celections have never been called election night,\u201d as military and overseas ballots have \u201cuntil a full week after Election Day\u201d to be counted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to set that straight, that this is a process, and we want to make sure that every single vote of every valid voter is securely and accurately counted,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania law allows for mailed-in ballots to be received and counted up to three days after the Nov. 3 election.<\/p>\n

However, Republicans, including President Trump\u2019s campaign, have challenged the state law to the Supreme Court, which on Wednesday rejected a GOP request to fast-track the case.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Boockvar assured voters that mail-in ballots will be counted if they are postmarked by Election Day, and received by 5 p.m. on Nov. 6.<\/p>\n

\u201cIgnore the lawsuits, ignore the hype. Get your ballots in today,\u201d she said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
