\n The eight-year-old bystander shot in the leg while trick-or-treating in Harlem on Halloween is in good spirits but a lot of pain, according to her father, who recounted the harrowing moment to The Post on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were walking to meet my wife at the CVS. I then see a guy with a look on his face and he pulls back his jacket and I see his gun,\u201d recalled the father, who asked that his name be withheld.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hear shots. I pushed my youngest out of the way and then grab her but she\u2019s yelling, \u2018My leg!’\u201d<\/p>\n

The dad \u2014 who was hit in the arm \u2014 ran into the street with his daughter and hopped into an empty, off-duty taxicab, whose driver took them to a nearby hospital, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Halloween a kid trick-or-treating can\u2019t be safe in New York? How crazy is that?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old Harlemite said his 8-year-old dressed up as a \u201cspace girl,\u201d while his younger daughter had gone as Elsa from \u201cFrozen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHalloween didn\u2019t seem to be in the cards this year but the kids begged me to go trick-and-treating,\u201d said the dad.<\/p>\n

Police said the father-daughter pair and a third bystander got caught in the middle of a verbal dispute between two men in their twenties, which escalated into gunfire.<\/p>\n

Neither gunman has been app<\/a>rehended. Police said one of the men was last seen wearing a green and black jacket.<\/p>\n

The young victim\u2019s father said the girl\u2019s shin bone was shattered \u2014 and doctors have yet to determine how much rehabilitation or surgery she\u2019ll need.<\/p>\n

The city has grappled with\u00a0a surge in gun violence\u00a0over the past several months.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore this I was against gun violence like everyone, but now I\u2019m like this has to stop,\u201d the dad told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, how this guy miss who he\u2019s shooting at and hits us. It\u2019s crazy!\u201d he said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
