\n Mark Cuban has seen the future of vegetarian dining \u2014 and it comes with spicy mustard, sauerkraut, and a side of greasy potato chips.<\/p>\n

Last November, the billionaire \u201cShark Tank\u201d judge shelled out $250,000 for a 20-percent stake in Mrs. Goldfarb\u2019s Unreal Deli \u2014 a \u201cfine vegan meats\u201d food startup that makes corned beef, turkey and other cold cuts from plant-based ingredients like beets and chickpeas.<\/p>\n

Now, Cuban says he believes the business, which has forecasted $3 million in revenue for the current year, has the potential to hit $50 million in sales. Big distributors including Whole Foods and the Quizno\u2019s have both begun testing the fledgling brand, he says.<\/p>\n

In the case of Quizno\u2019s, Cuban said he called the CEO and the sub-sandwich chain is now testing Unreal Deli meats in Denver and Seattle with the hopes of going national.<\/p>\n

\u201cSales are really, really good \u2014 better than I imagined,\u201d Cuban told The Post. \u201cI never saw it happ<\/a>ening this fast. In particular, we have distributors around the world now. I didn\u2019t see that coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outspoken Dallas Mavericks owner \u2014 who became a vegetarian himself not long before he made his Unreal Deli investment \u2014 added that he doesn\u2019t see publicly traded Beyond Meat being a competitor, since it is focused on veggie burgers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see this as creating the plant-based corned-beef and pastrami markets and taking a lot of market share from plant-based turkey slices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would always rather create a market. That\u2019s when the home runs start.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuban has previously invested in vegetarian startups like Alyssa\u2019s Healthy Cookies, Nuts \u2019N More and New York City-based Wanna Date? fruit spreads.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
