Things have been quiet for years when it comes to status updates about the new project, but on a recent earnings call, Ubisoft revealed that the new\u00a0<em>Avatar<\/em> game won\u2019t be coming out as quickly as expected.<span id=\"more-644193\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2020\/11\/03\/ubisofts-avatar-game-delayed-until-2022\">GameInformer<\/a> reports that the reason the game has been delayed is so it will align with James Cameron\u2019s long-gestating movie sequels, the first of which is now slated to hit theaters in 2022. Of course, that\u2019s when the next movie is\u00a0<em>currently<\/em> scheduled to arrive \u2013 it\u2019s been pushed more times than the buttons on a remote control, and with the pandemic still in full swing, there\u2019s no reason to think it won\u2019t get delayed yet again. If this game is hitching its wagon to the film\u2019s release date, at least it should give Ubisoft and the developers more time to make the best game possible \u2013 with all of this extra time, there\u2019s no excuse for the game not to be incredible.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Hopefully the delay will also reduce the crunch for the people working on the game \u2013 the video game industry is notorious for pushing its employees to their absolute limits for big AAA titles like this, so maybe knowing ahead of time that their delivery date has been kicked back will allow them to spread the work over a longer period of time.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Untitled Avatar Game - Teaser Trailer\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l-fYEVPHlrI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This new game does not have an official title yet \u2013 for now, it\u2019s simply being referred to as <em>The Avatar Project<\/em>. In 2009, a separate game called\u00a0<em>Avatar: The Game<\/em> was released around the same time as the original film. That one was set two years before the events of the film, and allowed players to suit up as as a human soldier or play as a Na\u2019vi warrior. But will this new game live up to fan expectations after all these years away from Pandora?
