Things didn\u2019t exactly work out exactly the way Disney wanted with the epic \u2013 they had hoped to release\u00a0<em>Mulan<\/em> everywhere theatrically and ride to box office glory. Instead, because of the coronavirus, the film ended up going to Disney+ in the U.S. \u2013 for an extra price. But if you\u2019ve been waiting around to access <em>Mulan <\/em>another way, it\u2019s now available on Blu-ray and digital. And if you\u2019re\u00a0<em>still<\/em> not sold, here are the first few opening scenes from the film.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mulan_Opening_Scenes\"><\/span><strong>Mulan Opening Scenes<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Disney&#039;s Mulan | Exclusive Sneak Peek\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BH1Nfja5e9Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->I watched\u00a0<em>Mulan<\/em> back when it hit Disney+, and here\u2019s my scorching hot take: it\u2019s fine. I am not in the tank for these live-action Disney remakes at all, but I never got bored watching this, so hey \u2013 that\u2019s something. That said, the film suffers from some very strange choices \u2013 most notably the idea to give Mulan superpowers, which is so far removed from the original movie that\u2019s it\u2019s borderline bizarre. Then there are the behind-the-scenes controversies, like star\u00a0Yifei Liu voicing support for the police over the protestors during the\u00a02019\u201320 Hong Kong protests; and, as the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-54064654\">BBC<\/a> reports, the final credits thanking a\u00a0\u201cgovernment security agency in Xinjiang province, where about 1m people \u2013 mostly Muslim Uighurs \u2013 are thought to be detained.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of that, and more, kind of removes what little enthusiasm I have for the film. But if you\u2019re still interested, you can check out\u00a0<em>Mulan<\/em> on Blu-ray and VOD right now.
