\n Mayor Bill de Blasio confessed his utter incompetence this week in interviews with local media<\/a>, admitting he has no plan to deal with the city\u2019s mounting fiscal nightmare, surging violent crime or anything else \u2014 except to hope for a safe vaccine and a bottomless federal bailout.<\/p>\n

When NY1\u2019s Errol Louis asked what he planned to do about murders (up 37 percent) and shootings (up 94 percent), the mayor simply recited his usual litany of excuses: \u201cglobal pandemic,\u201d \u201cperfect storm of negative factors,\u201d yadda yadda. But if Joe Biden wins, \u201cwe get a major stimulus,\u201d and \u201cthat\u2019s going to turn things around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huh? How will a bailout reverse the crime spike? He\u2019s surely not going to reverse his NYPD cuts. Nor does a one-time bailout do a thing about the existential challenge to the city\u2019s business model: Even with a vaccine, lots of folks no longer see New York as safe. A real mayor would start dealing with such problems on his own.<\/p>\n

Louis seemed stunned: \u201cSurely you\u2019re not saying to the people of New York, \u2018Hey, murders \u2026 and shootings are all going to get worse for the next year\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d replied de Blasio \u2014 before affirming just that: \u201cI think you\u2019re going to see by the summer \u2026 a very, very different reality in the city, if Joe Biden is elected.\u201d<\/p>\n

State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, meanwhile, flagged de Blasio\u2019s fiscal fecklessness. The mayor, he noted in a new report, wants to borrow as much as $5 billion to pay the daily bills, \u201ca practice that helped lead to the 1970s fiscal crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city\u2019s projection of a \u201csharp rebound in revenue\u201d also looks quite rosy, he warned, saying Blas needs a real plan before borrowing and putting the city\u2019s future at risk.<\/p>\n

Silly DiNapoli. Doesn\u2019t he know Biden will solve all of New York\u2019s problems? \u2026 Next year? \u2026 Maybe? \u2026 We hope?\n <\/p><\/div>\n
