{"id":105027,"date":"2020-11-05T00:31:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-04T21:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/army-museums-to-give-out-excess-artifacts-including-weapons-historic-uniforms\/"},"modified":"2020-11-05T00:31:26","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T21:31:26","slug":"army-museums-to-give-out-excess-artifacts-including-weapons-historic-uniforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/army-museums-to-give-out-excess-artifacts-including-weapons-historic-uniforms\/","title":{"rendered":"#Army museums to give out excess artifacts, including weapons, historic uniforms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Army museums to give out excess artifacts, including weapons, historic uniforms<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n                        <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/2017\/03\/16\/national-museum-of-the-united-states-army-to-begin-construction-at-fort-belvoir\/\">The Army Museum Enterprise<\/a> is getting rid of duplicate artifacts among its 580,000-item collection over the next five years, leaving opportunities for other museums, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/election-2020\/2020\/10\/14\/how-will-trump-and-biden-handle-veterans-issues-heres-what-they-told-us\/\">veterans organizations<\/a>, national parks, and state and local governments to ultimately claim the excess inventory.<\/p>\n<p>The divestiture will include artifacts from all 46 museums operated by AME, according to an Army Headquarters press release Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect that the first divestiture by site will take place in Spring of 2021, but we have been working on collections reviews over the past year,\u201d Stefan Rohal, AME\u2019s historic materiel division chief, told Army Times.<\/p>\n<p>Rohal\u2019s division is working with the Defense Logistics Agency to establish the process for reviewing and distributing artifacts. He said the goal in announcing the plan early is to ensure that eligible organizations sign up with the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Services Administration so they have time to request property.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Army Museum Enterprise is reviewing everything from tanks and howitzers to uniforms and canteens,\u201d Rohal <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dla.mil\/AboutDLA\/News\/NewsArticleView\/Article\/2392860\/dla-to-help-army-make-excess-historic-artifacts-available\/\">said in the news release,<\/a> adding that some artifacts could be tightly controlled by law and regulation.<\/p>\n<p>Weapons, which require demilitarization, uniforms, hateful material, or anything with hazardous material cannot go to the general public, Rohal noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything not in one of these categories that does not get picked up by an eligible organization could potentially make its way to the public,\u201d Rohal said.<\/p>\n<p>Army museums have been collecting artifacts for years, but the service only finished consolidating the different facilities under a single command in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The current effort was framed as a \u201cright-sizing\u201d by the Army HQ release, and it is intended to ensure the service only retains those artifacts that \u201cneed to be cared for in perpetuity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Organizations that are fully registered with federal surplus property request systems will be able to request items once property turn-ins begin.<\/p>\n<p>Once the property is turned over to the Defense Logistics Agency, it goes through its screening process, according to Rohal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is that most of the material be placed with <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp;
