“#How to Test Surround Sound Speakers on Windows 10”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Setting up a new surround sound configuration can be daunting with so many speakers to position properly. Luckily, Windows 10 includes a small built-in test program that can help you set it up. Here\u2019s how to access it.<\/p>\n

First, right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar and select \u201cSounds\u201d from the menu that pops up.<\/p>\n

(You can also open the Control Panel and click Hardware and Sound > Sound.)<\/p>\n

In the window that app<\/a>ears, choose the \u201cPlayback\u201d tab, then select the surround sound output device you\u2019d like to test from the list. On many PCs, this will be a device named \u201cSpeakers.\u201d Click the \u201cConfigure\u201d button to configure your selected device.<\/p>\n

(You can also right-click the device in the Playback list and select \u201cConfigure [Device Name].\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

A \u201cSpeaker Setup\u201d window will open. In the list of audio channels, select the configuration you\u2019d like to test. For example, if you have 7.1 surround sound hooked up and want to test that, select \u201c7.1 Surround.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, click the \u201cTest\u201d button just below the channels list. You\u2019ll hear a test chime played one at a time through all of the speakers in the configuration. As each speaker plays, it will be highlighted in the diagram.<\/p>\n

If you want to stop the testing process, click the \u201cTest\u201d button again, which will read \u201cStop\u201d while the chimes are playing.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to test individual speakers, click on them in the diagram located in the right side of the window. When you click a speaker, a chime will play through that specific speaker. This can help you figure out if your speakers are positioned correctly.<\/p>\n

After that, you\u2019re free to hit \u201cCancel\u201d or close the window with the \u201cX\u201d button in the corner. Then close \u201cSound\u201d properties, and you\u2019ll be on your way.<\/p>\n

You can also click \u201cNext\u201d and go through the wizard to tell Windows which speakers you don\u2019t have connected, if necessary.<\/p>\n
