\n Elon Musk floated the idea of a Tesla-branded tequila on April Fools\u2019 Day \u2014 but the product was app<\/a>arently no joke.<\/p>\n

A bottle of the agave-based spirit will run buyers $250 a bottle \u2014 and customers are limited to two bottles per person.<\/p>\n

According to their website, the tequila will be sold in a bottle in the shape of Tesla\u2019s iconic lightning bolt logo.<\/p>\n

The car company is advertising the liquor as \u201cpremium 100% de agave tequila a\u00f1ejo aged in French oak barrels,\u201d and claims it has \u201ca dry fruit and light vanilla nose with a balanced cinnamon pepper finish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just hours after the tequila went on sale, Tesla\u2019s website was sold out of the product. Resellers are already scalping the bottles<\/a> for as much as $999.<\/p>\n

Musk previously joked about \u201cTeslaquila\u201d as part of an April Fools Day prank<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n

As part of the joke, Musk claimed the company was out of money and posed with a cardboard sign that read \u201cBankwupt!\u201d<\/p>\n

The tequila announcement comes on the heels of a statement Musk made on Twitter earlier this week,<\/a> revealing that the company really was \u201cabout a month\u201d away from bankruptcy between mid-2017 and mid-2019.\n <\/div>\n
