\n Rapper Braxton \u201cBrax\u201d Baker has passed away. She was 21.<\/p>\n

The Richmond, Virginia-born artist and social media influencer<\/a> is known for her 2017 mixtape \u201cVERSE(atility).\u201d<\/p>\n

Her mother, Letricia Loftin Russell, posted to Instagram<\/a> about the sad news<\/a> on Thursday. \u201cOur angel, Braxton Blue.B Baker has ascended,\u201d Russell wrote. \u201cIt was a spiritual release. God retrieved the angel He loaned us.\u201d She didn\u2019t say what her daughter\u2019s cause of death was, only that \u201cThere were no scratches there were no bruises, her internal and external being was completely pure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russell went on to say that Braxton had been \u201cin spiritual retreat, carefully crafting and curating her art,\u201d including two albums and three novels, which she has dedicated \u201cto humanity and healing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Most recently, Brax had been evolving her brand by merging her love of fashion and \u201cBlack queer revolutionary womxn,\u201d Russell wrote.<\/p>\n

Other collaborators also took to social media<\/a> to mourn the young creator.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil we meet again, RIP Brax,\u201d wrote makeup artist Scott Osbourne Jr. in an Instagram post<\/a> about Brax and her passing. \u201cMan the work you created, and the work we created together will live on forever!\u201d<\/p>\n

In a 2018 interview with SVGE Magazine<\/a>, Brax discussed the years she\u2019d already spent building her brand, her deep religious values, embracing the power of her creativity and her love of affirmations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been using my creativity to build a unique brand for years. I\u2019ve been directing my own shoots, directing my own videos, styling myself, writing poetry, writing articles, writing raps, choreographing dances, styling myself, and styling others like it was nothing for years,\u201d she told the publication. \u201cNow that I\u2019ve embraced that power, I don\u2019t think the world is ready.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
