What could that show look like? Will it feature familiar or entirely new characters? Details are scarce for now, but a new report suggests that the female-led Leslye Headland Star Wars<\/em> series will at least feature a lot of martial arts.<\/p>\n

Buried in a new report from Deadline were some new details about the female-centric\u00a0Star Wars<\/em> series written and showrun by\u00a0Russian Doll<\/em> mastermind Headland. The series is \u201cbelieved to be a female-driven action thriller with martial arts elements and set in an alternate timeline from the usual Star Wars universe.\u201d
\nThis is the first we\u2019ve learned that Headand\u2019s\u00a0Star Wars<\/em> series\u00a0will be a martial arts thriller, which will certainly set it apart from the space western\/wandering ronin adventures of\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em>. We\u2019ve never had a\u00a0Star Wars<\/em> project that has focused heavily on hand-to-hand action and fight sequences, and this would give Headland\u2019s series a unique concept.<\/p>\n

While Deadline\u2019s use of the word \u201calternate\u201d is questionable, the outlet likely means a different time setting from the timeframe of\u00a0The Mandalorian<\/em>, which takes place five years after the fall of the Empire in\u00a0Return of the Jedi<\/em>.
