\n A British woman spent three months in a coma and lost her memory after a horrific moped accident, but woke up to stunning news<\/a> \u2013 she was 11 weeks pregnant, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Gemma Holmes, 33, Trowbridge, Wiltshire, said in a new podcast that she broke her back when she slammed into a parked car as she drove to work in September 2013, when she was unaware that she was expecting, the Mirror reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Doctors at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol broke news of Holmes\u2019 pregnancy to her mother Julie Brown, 59, and the family waited for her to wake up from her induced coma, which wiped all her memory from the prior three years, including the identity of the unborn child\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

\u201cI woke up to be told, \u2018You\u2019re in hospital, you\u2019ve had a really bad accident, you\u2019ve got brain damage, a punctured lung, you\u2019ve broken too many bones and you\u2019ll never walk again,\u201d she said in a a Real Fix podcast, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo wake up to be told you\u2019ve just been through all of this, died and everything but you\u2019re still pregnant \u2026 it\u2019s like, \u2018Oh my god, how does that happ<\/a>en?\u2019\u201d Holmes said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was like \u2018what?\u2019 because I woke up to a dream of giving birth to a little boy \u2026 I even question myself today: \u2018How did that happen? I died twice, but he\u2019s still alive inside of me \u2013 I don\u2019t get it,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey said to me, \u2018You\u2019ve got a week to decide if you want to keep the baby because we can\u2019t do anything after 12 weeks. I was like, \u2018No way, of course I\u2019m going to keep him. Are you joking?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI was excited. I couldn\u2019t wait to meet him. He kicked me loads letting me know he was in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Doctors said she would likely be unable to walk again \u2013 but after using a wheelchair for several months, Gemma defied the odds and gave birth to her healthy baby boy, Rueben, in May 2013.<\/p>\n

She also learned to walk again as her son took his first steps, according to the Mirror.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe doctors said I hadn\u2019t got much chance of making it, but I pulled through and I proved all those doctors wrong. My mum\u2019s always brought up to think if you think negative, negative is going to happen. If you think positive, positive will happen,\u201d Gemma said.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
