They primed the public for \u201ca blowout that never materialized.\u201d Not only were they wrong about Trump\u2019s popularity; they\u2019re also \u201cunable to admit that a Democratic Party held hostage by liberal arts graduates who write their preferred pronouns on their name tags might be out of touch with the working-class voters who traditionally vote blue.\u201d Most outlets all but refused to report anything that might\u2019ve helped Trump, and \u201cas independent thinkers exit the mainstream media, groupthink and blind spots among the legacy press are likely to get worse.\u201d That result would be \u201ca travesty, and not an outcome anyone should want or root for.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Election_desk_Women_Fueled_GOP_Wins\"><\/span><strong>Election desk: Women Fueled GOP Wins<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMore than 20 Republican women are headed to the House,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/2020-election\/gop-women-fuel-house-gains\/\">observes Yuichiro Kakutani at The Washington Free Beacon<\/a>, including six who flipped seats to the GOP on election night,\u201d in what New York\u2019s Rep. Elise Stefanik, who spearheaded a push to recruit women candidates, called a \u201csmashing success\u201d \u2014 and a sign Democrats have no monopoly over women\u2019s votes. Indeed, it was women, notes Kakutani, who fueled \u201ca Republican offensive that chipped away at Democratic control of the House,\u201d winning six out of the seven flipped races. These women, Stefanik argued, felt \u201cthe party of Nancy Pelosi\u201d simply does not \u201crepresent the vast majority of women.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Iconoclast_The_Lefts_Self-Sabotage\"><\/span><strong>Iconoclast: The Left\u2019s Self-Sabotage<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Democrats\u2019 failure to win the Senate sets up a victorious Joe Biden to be \u201ca weak, ineffectual president governing at the mercy of Mitch McConnell\u2019s Machiavellian machinations,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/theweek.com\/articles\/947824\/left-just-got-crushed\">The Week\u2019s Damon Linker points out<\/a>. Democrats drove voters away by promising \u201ca <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of institutional changes that would entrench their power far into the future.\u201d Yet their platform turned out to be \u201cthe most effective [get-out-the-vote] operation for the GOP imaginable.\u201d If Biden makes the same mistake of overreach during his presidency, the 2022 midterm election will see a \u201cconservative backlash\u201d that renders his \u201cadministration even more fully dead in the water.\u201d Much of the left may finally be realizing that half the country is not willing to submit to their \u201cgiddy plans\u201d \u2014 and \u201cthe sooner the Democrats learn to live with that fact, the better.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"From_the_right_Killing_California_Retailers\"><\/span><strong>From the right: Killing California Retailers<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>California\u2019s shoplifting reforms have been devastating retail businesses, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/california-the-shoplifting-state-11604361241?mod=opinion_lead_pos3\">The Wall Street Journal\u2019s editors report<\/a>. After the Golden State reduced criminal charges for theft of property under $950 to a misdemeanor in 2014, it triggered a kleptomania boom that crippled stores. \u201cPolice stopped <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>rehending shoplifters because it wasn\u2019t worth their time,\u201d and public officials even nixed store-led initiatives, such as requiring shoplifters to take life skills classes to avoid a criminal complaint. \u201cSilicon Valley gentry,\u201d who \u201ccan insulate themselves from social disorder caused by progressive policies\u201d and unions, have no problem opposing harsher penalties. \u201cAs ever, the rich can insulate themselves from social disorder caused by progressive policies. Everyone else can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Education_guru_School_Closures_Are_%E2%80%98Insane\"><\/span><strong>Education guru: School Closures Are \u2018Insane\u2019<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fordhaminstitute.org\/national\/commentary\/are-schools-essential-or-not\">At the Fordham Institute site, education expert Chester E. Finn Jr. wonders<\/a> how Americans would feel if \u201cdoctors, nurses, policemen, firemen and postal workers simply opted to stay home \u2014 and their unions defended them,\u201d because of the pandemic, as is the case with teachers. \u201cAre schools essential or aren\u2019t they? Are teachers essential workers or aren\u2019t they?\u201d Alas, public schools, like those in Montgomery County, Md., where Finn lives, have remained closed, because \u201cunions are obdurate.\u201d The closures are \u201cinsane and irresponsible. We know from a thousand sources that almost all kids are better off in school, both for purposes of academic learning and for all manner of\u201d and social- and emotional-learning benefits. Sure, there are risks.
