Murrow High School in Brooklyn was stunned last week when teacher Nyeesha Archer <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared on Zoom to give a lesson on algebra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was teaching class like she normally does, but she was in a car,\u201d the student told The Post, asking to remain anonymous to avoid repercussions. \u201cI was, like, hey, my teacher\u2019s in a car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The student did not hear whether Archer explained why she was in a car, but he felt she wasn\u2019t taking the job so seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow much of a lesson could it be if she\u2019s in a car, she\u2019s distracted. It didn\u2019t look like she had papers in front of her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>About a month ago, his English teacher conducted a lesson while reclining on a hammock in his backyard as his own kids played, the student said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was in a hammock interacting with his kids during the lesson,\u201d the student said. \u201cHe probably figured half the class was sleeping anyway. That\u2019s the thing about online school. Half the kids in the class are playing video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s or asleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I\u2019m home, I\u2019m not taking classes as seriously as if I was in school, especially when the teachers are not taking it seriously,\u201d he said. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve heard stories from other kids that some teachers were actually shopping. Some were out and about. Others work remotely if their buildings are closed due to COVID-19 cases. Murrow HS is currently closed because it is located in Midwood, a \u201cred zone\u201d with a spike in cases.<\/p>\n<p>A Queens high school teacher said some colleagues give lessons remotely from their vacation or secondary home, which he thinks is OK.<\/p>\n<p>But sitting in a car or resting on a hammock is \u201ctotally unprofessional,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re obviously being paid to take it seriously, be professional and deliver quality instruction. I don\u2019t know if you can deliver quality instruction if you have kids running around in your backyard. How can you be serious and say this is important at the same time you\u2019re in the back seat of a moving car?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Archer could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The United Federation of Teachers sees no problem with the odd locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeachers are working in many creative ways to provide instruction to their remote students,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>The DOE could cite no rules or restrictions on where teachers can conduct lessons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York City teachers have been incredibly dedicated in their classrooms and remotely, delivering rigorous education to our students, and we expect they will exercise their best judgment while doing so, \u201csaid spokeswoman Danielle Filson.<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cWe have high standards for our teachers and as always, if a teacher is not doing their job, they are subject to discipline.
