Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Thursday that he is \u201cconsidering\u201d imposing a quarantine on travel<\/a>ers coming to New York from Florida, where coronavirus cases are spiking.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have experts who have advised me to do that. I\u2019m considering it now,\u201d Cuomo said during his second to last daily coronavirus press briefing in Manhattan when asked by a reporter about whether he will issue a two-week quarantine on people coming to the Empire State from the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n

Florida has recently seen a major uptick in coronavirus cases with more than 2,600 new cases recorded on Wednesday and a record 2,763 cases the day before.<\/p>\n

In total, the state has tallied more than 82,000 COVID-19 infections.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a real concern,\u201d Cuomo said, adding that implementing a quarantine on folks traveling from Florida to New York is \u201csomething I\u2019m considering.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuomo also pointed to the irony of the fact that as the coronavirus crisis was mounting in New York back in March, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered that New Yorkers fleeing to Florida would have to self-quarantine for two weeks when they arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorida and other states imposed a quarantine on New Yorkers,\u201d Cuomo said. \u201cIf you went to Florida you had to quarantine for two weeks because they were afraid of New Yorkers bringing the virus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuomo continued, \u201cFast forward 100 days \u2013 now we\u2019re afraid they\u2019re bringing the virus to our state.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
