{"id":107835,"date":"2020-11-09T01:16:42","date_gmt":"2020-11-08T22:16:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/alex-trebek-mourned-by-senators-after-special-draft-moment\/"},"modified":"2020-11-09T01:16:42","modified_gmt":"2020-11-08T22:16:42","slug":"alex-trebek-mourned-by-senators-after-special-draft-moment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/alex-trebek-mourned-by-senators-after-special-draft-moment\/","title":{"rendered":"#Alex Trebek mourned by Senators after special draft moment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Alex Trebek mourned by Senators after special draft moment<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/11\/Alex-Trebek-Ottawa-Senators-NHL.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Ottawa Senators on Sunday paid tribute to the late Alex Trebek, who a month earlier helped the organization announce their first pick of the 2020 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Trebek, the legendary \u201cJeopardy!\u201d host, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/11\/08\/alex-trebek-iconic-jeopardy-host-dead-at-80\/\">died Sunday at the age of 80<\/a> following a bout with pancreatic cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlex was a true and much beloved Canadian icon, and a very special member of the Ottawa Senators family,\u201d Senators owner Eugene Melnyk said in a statement. \u201cWe will always be grateful to Alex for the special role he played in announcing the Senators\u2019 first draft choice this year. For his legions of fans, Alex\u2019s class and professionalism will endure as will his love for our <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you, Alex, for your legacy. The Senators family and the entire capital Region will miss you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March 2019.<\/p>\n<p>He was a Senators fan, having been born a few hours away from Ottawa in Ontario, Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The Senators had Trebek announce their third-overall selection in the draft, Tim St\u00fctzle, in the iconic \u201cJeopardy!\u201d format. Trebek provided the answer to the following question: \u201cWith the 3rd pick in the 2020 NHL Draft the Ottawa Senators choose this player.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe correct response?,\u201d Trebek said. \u201cWho is Tim St\u00fctzle?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>St\u00fctzle <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CHV4D_MiGd6\/\">took to Instagram<\/a> to pay his respects to Trebek as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Alex Trebek,\u201d the 18-year-old wrote. \u201cI was looking forward to meet the person who drafted me. He shared this unforgettable moment with me and I am very thankful for that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith my deepest condolences. REST IN PEACE MR.
