\n The last episode of \u201cJeopardy!\u201d hosted by late game<\/a>-show legend Alex Trebek will air on Christmas Day, but the million-dollar question of who will replace him remains unanswered.<\/p>\n

The 80-year-old host\u2019s last day in the Culver City, California, studio was on Oct. 29, just over a week before his death Sunday morning at his home in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cJEOPARDY! episodes hosted by Alex will air through December 25, 2020,\u201d the show said in a statement.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear how the show will move forward without the long-running quiz-show host \u2014 though some have speculated that champion Ken Jennings<\/a> would take over hosting duties.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe show is not announcing plans for a new host at this time,\u201d they said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Trebek hosted more than 8,200 episodes, setting a Guinness World Record for hosting the most episodes of a single game show.<\/p>\n

He announced last year that he had been diagnosed with stage-four pancreatic cancer, but vowed to power through to film new episodes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to fight this and I\u2019m going to keep working and with the love and support from my family and friends and with the help of your prayers,\u201d he vowed in a video released at the time.<\/p>\n

Trebek was signed on to host through the 2021-2022 season at the time of his death.<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s executive producer, Mike Richards, called his death an \u201cenormous loss for the \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 staff, crew and all of Alex\u2019s millions of fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a legend of the industry that we were all lucky to watch night after night for 37 years. Working beside him for the past year and a half as he heroically continued to host \u2018Jeopardy!\u2019 was an incredible honor,\u201d Richards said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis belief in the importance of the show and his willingness to push himself to perform at the highest level was the most inspiring demonstration of courage I have ever seen. His constant desire to learn, his kindness, and his professionalism will be with all of us forever.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
