\n Jamal Adams\u2019 first game<\/a> in over a month didn\u2019t go well personally or collectively for the Seattle Seahawks\u2019 increasingly shoddy defense.<\/p>\n

The former Jets safety committed a costly penalty and app<\/a>eared to get into a brief but spirited conversation with head coach Pete Carroll in the third quarter of Sunday\u2019s 44-34 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the the most points allowed in Carroll\u2019s 11 seasons with the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, it\u2019s new guys, including myself \u2026 and we\u2019re feeling each other out as far as knowing what we can do,\u201d Adams said after the game. \u201cThere\u2019s always pros and cons with everything, so we just got to continue to get better, continue to learn our teammates and continue to gel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis defense will be fine. Obviously, it\u2019s frustrating, not coming out with a win and obviously having a lot of mistakes on the field, including myself. But we just got to be better, and we will be better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seattle\u2019s defense easily has yielded the most yardage in the NFL this season at 455.8 yards per game, and Josh Allen torched the unit Sunday for 415 passing yards and three touchdowns plus an additional rushing score.<\/p>\n

Adams, who hadn\u2019t played since Sept. 27 due to a groin injury, was beaten badly in coverage by Stephon Diggs off the line of scrimmage on one pass play in the third quarter.<\/p>\n

And his illegal-contact penalty for trip<\/a>ping Cole Beasley downfield in the fourth negated a third-down sack by Ryan Neal that would have given Russell Wilson and the Seahawks\u2019 offense the ball down by a touchdown. The Bills scored later on that drive to extend their lead back to 14 points.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a play I wish I could have back,\u201d said Adams, the All-Pro strong safety who was acquired from the Jets for two first-round picks in July.<\/p>\n

When it was suggested that Beasley appeared to embellish the play to draw a flag, Adams refused to allow that to be used as an excuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s out of my control. You win some, you lose some, man,\u201d he said. \u201cAt the end of the day, whether I get beat on a play or whether I give up a play, I\u2019m still working on my jabs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m never going to flinch. This defense is never going to flinch. So at the end of the day, that\u2019s just what happened. But you learn from it and you get better and you improve.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
