Paige Spiranac may be something of an open book to her Instagram followers, but not every chapter is as rosy as a social media<\/a> filter.<\/p>\n

During Monday\u2019s episode of her \u201cPlaying A Round\u201d podcast, the 27-year-old golfer was asked if she had any tips regarding the mental aspect of the sport, which led to her opening up about previous struggles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have seen more sports psychologists than you will ever know. I have tried everything and anything,\u201d Spiranac said, noting a past YouTube clip that touched upon a similar subject matter.<\/p>\n

Spiranac then elaborated on three of her most important takeaways, ranging from breathing techniques to breaking down a golf scorecard into three sections. She also spoke about the idea of a think box and a play box, via Vision 54.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re behind this imaginary visible line, you\u2019re in your think box. So, this is where you check the wind, you pick your club, you\u2019re doing your practice swings,\u201d Spiranac explained. \u201cAnd then, as soon as you\u2019re ready to go, you cross that invisible line and you\u2019re in the play box. You\u2019re not thinking of anything else other than the shot at hand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spiranac app<\/a>reciates this technique as it keeps her in the \u201cpresent moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll these negative thoughts seem to come into your head, but if you have a clear goal in mind of, \u2018I\u2019m in my play box now, all I\u2019m going to work on is this shot that I have,\u2019 it seems to really help,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Though Spiranac has experienced professional lows, she keeps her game<\/a> positive on social media, regularly sharing golf clips with her 2.6 million followers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like giving this advice because I feel like it can be really helpful for a lot of people who are struggling,\u201d Spiranac said, adding the best golf is played care-free.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get so in your head and you\u2019re thinking about everything, and you\u2019re trying to do too much,\u201d she explained. \u201cYou play your best golf when you\u2019re confident and you\u2019re not thinking of anything. So you want to try to eliminate almost everything that you can, to not be thinking of your mechanics, or not thinking of all these techniques that you have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spiranac also advised for those reaching a breaking point to consider stepping away for a time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just felt lost,\u201d Spiranac said of her past. \u201cWhen you get to that point, maybe take a little bit of time off, that seemed to really help for me. And play for fun\u2026 Try to just have a good time out there, and you\u2019re going to play so much better if you\u2019re relaxed and calm, and laughing, and smiling, and not so focused in on what your score is.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
