Paramount had to delay\u00a0A Quiet Place Part II<\/em><\/strong> due to the coronavirus, but they\u2019re already looking ahead to another sequel. Jeff Nichols<\/strong>, director of underseen gems like\u00a0Midnight Special\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Take Shelter<\/em>, has been tasked with writing and directing a third\u00a0Quiet Place<\/em><\/strong> film based on an idea from John Krasinski<\/strong>, director and co-writer of the previous two movies<\/a>. Specific plot details are being kept hushed-up for the time being.<\/p>\n

Deadline has the scoop on\u00a0A Quiet Place 3<\/em><\/strong>, or whatever it\u2019ll end up being called. The third entry in the franchise will have John Krasinski handing things over to Jeff Nichols, and that\u2019s pretty exciting. Nichols isn\u2019t exactly a huge name but he\u2019s one of those filmmakers who creates consistently strong movies. The movies themselves may not blow up the box office, but they almost always receive high-praise. Nichols\u2019 work includes\u00a0Mud<\/em>,\u00a0Take Shelter<\/em>,\u00a0Midnight Special<\/em>, and the recent\u00a0Loving<\/em>. Nicholas\u00a0also<\/em> frequently works with Michael Shannon, so here\u2019s hoping this means Michael Shannon is going to show up in\u00a0A Quiet Place 3<\/em>.
\nThere are no plot details to speak of at the moment, but there\u2019s already speculation that this third film could open the world of the movies up a bit. Rather than continue to focus on Emily Blunt<\/strong>\u2018s character and her remaining family,\u00a0A Quiet Place 3<\/em> might branch out and explore other characters inhabiting this world overrun with killer aliens.<\/p>\n

John Krasinski, who directed the first two films and had a hand in their script<\/a>s, came up with the idea for\u00a0A Quiet Place 3<\/em>, and in the past, the filmmaker hinted that he wanted to take this approach. Back when\u00a0A Quiet Place Part II<\/em> was being developed, Krasinski said: \u201cI had this very small idea, and what it was is that this is a world you can play in, this isn\u2019t just a character to remake or a group of characters or a story. It\u2019s actually a world, which is a whole different, very unique experience. It\u2019s something we feel very lucky to have. It\u2019s not like Alien or Jaws where the main villain is the thing you\u2019re repeating; it\u2019s an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets.\u201d<\/p>\n

In\u00a0A Quiet Place<\/em>, sound-sensitive aliens have wiped out much of humanity, leaving a family to fend for themselves. The sequel continues following the surviving members of that family while also expanding on how the alien invasion began. The first\u00a0A Quiet Place<\/em> ended up being something of a surprise hit, earning strong reviews and even stronger box office, grossing over $340 million worldwide,.<\/p>\n

A Quiet Place Part II<\/em> was originally supposed to open in March of this year and then got pushed to September, only to get pushed into 2021. It\u2019s now scheduled to arrive on\u00a0April 23, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
