\n Maybe those televised declarations of brotherly love were all just for show.<\/p>\n

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday described filling in as the \u201cman of the house\u201d when his workaholic dad wasn\u2019t around \u2014 and included younger brother Chris Cuomo among the \u201cfour sisters\u201d he had to watch over.<\/p>\n

During an app<\/a>earance on Sirius XM\u2018s \u201cThe Howard Stern Show,\u201d Cuomo recalled a period during his late teens when father and future three-term governor Mario Cuomo was rarely home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI never met anybody who worked like my father\u2026he was literally seven days a week,\u201d Cuomo said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe deal with my mother was he\u2019d be home Sunday night at 7 to have dinner with the family. I mean, who gets that deal? And then he never showed up at 7.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his father\u2019s absence, Cuomo \u2014 the second of five children \u2014 said it fell to him to take charge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was the man in the house \u2014 not to get sexist, right?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy father was gone, I had four sisters, and I was the man in the house to take care of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cuomo also claimed the experience was good training for his future role as New York\u2019s governor, in which \u201cmy job is to help take care of the state and to love everyone in the state and support everyone in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n

The only problem is that Cuomo only has three sisters \u2014 Dr. Margaret Cuomo, a radiologist who is the eldest of Mario and Matilda Cuomo\u2019s offspring; Maria Cuomo Cole, chairwoman of the non-profit HELP USA and wife of fashion designer Kenneth Cole; and Madeline Cuomo, a lawyer.<\/p>\n

The baby of the family, Chris Cuomo, is the host of CNN\u2019s \u201cCuomo Prime Time\u201d program, which featured repeated appearances by his older brother during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in New York.<\/p>\n

The two frequently engaged in jokey banter and Chris also took part in one of his brother\u2019s official briefings to discuss his battle against the coronavirus, an appearance that ended with the two of them telling each other, \u201cI love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The governor\u2019s office later clarified that he misspoke and meant to say he watched over his four siblings.<\/p>\n

A rep for Cuomo\u2019s show did not immedia<\/a>tely return requests for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
