This shift comes after criticism over\u00a0<em>black-ish\u00a0<\/em>being MIA until midseason, especially at a time in this country when its voice is more needed than ever. (<em>Call Your Mother,<\/em> a comedy originally set for this 9:30 timeslot, is now being held to midseason.)<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, ABC head Karey Burke alluded to the current state of the country as a reason for shifting the premiere up:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>black-ish\u00a0<\/em>has a long-standing history of shining a light on current events and honoring Black voices through the lens of the Johnson family. After speaking with [executive producer] Kenya [Barris] and our creative partners, we decided it was important to tell these meaningful stories during this moment in time, so we are adjusting our premiere schedule and are committed to doing whatever it takes to bring this <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> back as soon as we possibly can.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing recent monumental events, it\u2019s imperative that the dialogue continues and empowers viewers to raise their voices,\u201d Burke added, \u201cand there is no other show that does that like\u00a0<em>black-ish<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Barris himself added the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are incredibly grateful to Karey, Dana [Walden] and Peter [Rice] for recognizing the importance of black-ish in this moment and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>laud them for making the necessary shifts to bring the show back as soon as possible \u2026 While the last few months have felt overwhelming at times, they have also underscored just how important it is that Black voices are not only heard but empowered and amplified as well; and our entire\u00a0<em>black-ish<\/em>\u00a0team is humbled to be a small part of telling our stories and are excited to get back to these conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For the record, ABC is hesitant to call their schedule the \u201cfall,\u201d since they don\u2019t want to commit to a premiere window. That is instead when they are hoping to have the series back.
