“#’The Grinch’ musical coming to NBC with Matthew Morrison<\/strong>”

\n The Grinch is hitting the small screen.<\/p>\n

NBC is bringing the classic Dr. Seuss tale to life in a new musical holiday special, airing Dec. 4.<\/p>\n

It will be a two-hour production, titled \u201cDr. Seuss\u2019 The Grinch Musical,\u201d from the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in London, starring \u201cGlee\u201d alum Matthew Morrison, 42, as the titular character. Morrison has also been in \u201cThe Good Wife\u201d and \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d and he starred as J. M. Barrie in a 2015 Broadway production of \u201cFinding Neverland.\u201d<\/p>\n

Denis O\u2019Hare (\u201cAmerican Horror Story\u201d) will co-star as Old Max, Booboo Stewart (\u201cJulie and the Phantoms\u201d) will play Young Max and newcomer Amelia Minto will portray Cindy Lou Who.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the pandemic presents some challenges in bringing the stage musical to life, we are putting together a really special show with some crazy, fun, imaginative things going on,\u201d Morrison told \u201cToday\u201d<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Grinch has previously been played on the big screen by Jim Carrey (in 2000) and Benedict Cumberbatch (in 2018). This will be the latest of NBC\u2019s holiday season musicals \u2014 past entries included \u201cJesus Christ Superstar\u201d starring John Legend and \u201cPeter Pan\u201d starring Alison Williams.<\/p>\n

\u201cDr. Seuss\u2019 The Grinch Musical\u201d will air at 8 p.m. Dec. 4 on NBC.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
