\n Jamal Adams\u2019 trade request escalated from a social media<\/a> rant to a real-life demand.<\/p>\n

Frustrated by slow-moving contract negotiations and without much other leverage, Adams informed the team Thursday he wants to be dealt, The Post confirmed. It sets up what could be a messy divorce because the Jets are not inclined to move on from their best player \u2013 at least not without a significant package in return.<\/p>\n

Adams\u2019 frequent use of social media to voice his displeasure with the two years and $13.45 million remaining on his contract \u2013 and the slow-moving negotiations on an extension \u2013 reached another level Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe it\u2019s time to move on,\u201d Adams wrote Wednesday in reply to a Jets fan on Instagram.
<\/br>
\nAdams\u2019 message last week, as word leaked the Browns and defensive end Myles Garrett are in talks on an extension, was the Jets are \u201call talk no action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now? Adams is venting at Jets fans and bringing Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes into the conversation. Garrett (No. 1), Adams (No. 6) and Mahomes (No. 10) were picked in the 2017 NFL Draft and this is the first offseason players from that class are eligible for an extension on original deals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat does Pat have to do with me?\u201d Adams replied to a fan. \u201cPat is about to get 40 to 60 M\u2019s (million) a year. Well deserved. That\u2019s my guy. But don\u2019t compare me to QB\u2019s if you aren\u2019t paying me QB money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Running back Christian McCaffrey signed a four-year, $64 million contract with the Panthers earlier this offseason. He was selected two picks after Adams.<\/p>\n

So, Adams can\u2019t figure out why the Jets are not acting like the Browns and Panthers. Adams did not participate in the Jets\u2019 voluntary virtual offseason to send a message and it app<\/a>ears the two sides could be headed toward a holdout if training camps start on time July 28.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t use the pandemic excuse,\u201d Adams wrote. \u201cCM22 got paid not too long ago. \u2026 [I am going to] protect myself just like the organization will look out for themselves at the end of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NFLPA told agents this week the league could lose $3 billion in revenue playing game<\/a>s without fans in 2020 \u2013 more if games are canceled completely \u2013 and that could affect the salary cap in 2021. So, some players are feeling more urgent than ever to strike a mega deal.<\/p>\n

The fan who lit Adams\u2019 fuse explained on his account that Adams blocked him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you read the whole thread I did agree with him getting paid as the top player as his position and only complimented him,\u201d Instagram user abrahams.jonathan said. \u201cThe only thing I disagreed with was how he has basically talked sh\u2013 to the media about the Jets and has held out so far. Told him to keep it in house. And mentioned Mahomes. Super bowl and NFL MVP and no [contract] yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

It has long been suspected that Adams, who is from the Dallas area, wants to fill the Cowboys\u2019 need for a playmaking safety. He has been upset with the Jets since his name surfaced in trade rumors last October.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
