Yesterday,\u00a0Pfizer Inc. announced its COVID-19 vaccine could be 90 percent effective, and while nothing is written in stone yet, that\u2019s the best <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> regarding a potential vaccine we\u2019ve heard yet. And if the vaccine is effective, and its distribution successful, experts predict movie theaters might be able to reopen sooner rather than later in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the CEO of IMAX is calling the news a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>-changer.\u201d However, we\u2019re not out of the woods yet. In the meantime, struggling chain AMC is launching a Private Theatre Rentals program while Regal is shutting down its remaining New York and Los Angeles locations.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"IMAX_CEO_on_Potential_COVID-19_Vaccine\"><\/span><strong>IMAX CEO on Potential COVID-19 Vaccine<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->To be clear: while there\u2019s a potential vaccine for the coronavirus, it\u2019s going to be a while before things get back to normal. However, that\u2019s not stopping\u00a0IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond from being hopeful. Speaking with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/news\/imax-ceo-covid-19-vaccine-a-game-changer-for-movie-theater-revival\">THR<\/a>, Gelfond said: \u201cPfizer said it is a game changer in terms of public health issues. And I think the vaccine is a game changer in terms of the movie industry. No one had a time frame before. The announcement puts bookends on in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Theaters have been hard-hit by the coronavirus, and while studios keep pushing big <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> into 2021, there remains some doubt regarding how things will play out. However, should the vaccine be successful, theaters could be back up and running sometime next year. Yesterday, Pfizer <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pfizer.com\/news\/press-release\/press-release-detail\/pfizer-and-biontech-announce-vaccine-candidate-against\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bwlistdisc\">\n<li>Vaccine candidate was found to be more than 90% effective in preventing COVID-19 in participants without evidence of prior SARS-CoV-2 infection in the first interim efficacy analysis<\/li>\n<li>Analysis evaluated 94 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in trial participants<\/li>\n<li>Study enrolled 43,538 participants, with 42% having diverse backgrounds, and no serious safety concerns have been observed; Safety and additional efficacy data continue to be collected<\/li>\n<li>Submission for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) planned for soon after the required safety milestone is achieved, which is currently expected to occur in the third week of November<\/li>\n<li>Clinical trial to continue through to final analysis at 164 confirmed cases in order to collect further data and characterize the vaccine candidate\u2019s performance against other study endpoint<i>s<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They also added: \u201cAs the study continues, the final vaccine efficacy percentage may vary.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"AMC_Private_Theatre_Rentals_Program\"><\/span><strong>AMC\u00a0Private Theatre Rentals Program\u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>AMC has been hit particularly hard by the virus \u2013 they just reported a $905.8 million quarterly loss \u2013 and they\u2019re now trying to make up for that lost revenue with\u00a0a\u00a0Private Theatre Rentals program. Per <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2020\/film\/news\/struggling-amc-chain-launching-private-theatre-rentals-1234826743\/\">Variety<\/a>, moviegoers can \u201crent out a showing at any of AMC\u2019s 600 screening rooms nationwide for as low as $99 for as many as 20 patrons.\u201d Viewing options include\u00a0<em>Tenet<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Freaky<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>The War With Grandpa<\/em>. The price? $149.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I\u2019m as ready to get back to movie theaters as anyone, but I honestly can\u2019t imagine plopping down $149 for\u00a0<em>The War With Grandpa<\/em>. But that\u2019s me! Variety adds:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->AMC said all showtimes at all locations stringently enforce the AMC Safe &amp; Clean policies and protocols, including mandatory mask wearing and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriate <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a> distancing within the auditorium. The total allowed guest count may be less than 20 to comply with state and local directives.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Regal_Closing_Remaining_NY_and_LA_Locations\"><\/span><strong>Regal Closing Remaining NY and LA Locations<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Deadline is reporting that effective Thursday, Regal will close their 18 locations left open in New York and California. Regal had just reopened 11 New York theaters in October after getting the go-ahead from\u00a0New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo. They also had seven theaters in Los Angeles still running. But now, they\u2019re closing, and they won\u2019t be reopening for the foreseeable future. With all of this in mind, it\u2019s probably safe to assume the holiday box office will be non-existent this year.
