\n To most people, Central Park is the heart of the urban jungle \u2014 but to this kid it\u2019s the ole fishin\u2019 hole.<\/p>\n

George Gjerdji, 13, made an amazing catch in an unlikely place Thursday, when he hauled in a massive 20-pound Carp from the waters of Central Park Lake.<\/p>\n

The young angler told The Post that he hooked the big one because he figured out that city fish particularly like to nosh on a New York favorite.<\/p>\n

\u201cI used a size-four circle hook with a piece of bagel bread\u201d as bait, he said.<\/p>\n

The teen regularly comes from his home in Yorktown in Westchester County to try his luck angling in the park \u2014 and Thursday\u2019s catch wasn\u2019t even his biggest fish story.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve caught one that was about a 30-pounder,\u201d Gjerdji said, noting that that big catch came exactly a year ago. \u201cI caught him last year on June 18. I have a picture of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both monster fish got thrown back, as the park has a catch and release policy.<\/p>\n

Unbeknownst to many New Yorkers, the Central Park Conservancy allows fishing at the Harlem Meer, the Central Park Lake, and the Central Park Pond.\u00a0 Anyone over 16 will need a license to cast their line.<\/p>\n

The Meer is the park\u2019s premier fishing hole, with casting allowed year-round from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, the conservancy says.<\/p>\n

The waters have an astounding number of aquatic creatures, including Carp, Bass, Catfish and Crayfish. The Reservoir, however, is off-limits.<\/p>\n

Gjerdji says the park isn\u2019t the only fishing spot he likes in the five boroughs.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad has a boat in City Island in the Bronx,\u201d he said. \u201cI like City Island because the fish bite more,\u201d he added. \u201cHere they\u2019re more lazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gjerdji said he has had more luck fishing off the Bronx island, where his father, Paul, still has a 21-foot Strip<\/a>er docked and where there are bigger fish to catch \u2014 that you can keep.<\/p>\n

\u201cOff City Island, I caught a 60-pound Striped Bass,\u201d the youngster said. \u201cI caught that one last year sometime in October.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that whopper fed his family for two days.<\/p>\n

But although Gjerdji and his dad have been fishing together, it doesn\u2019t necessarily run in the family \u2014 his twin sister, Teresa, isn\u2019t on board.<\/p>\n
