Stay tuned for Part 3 in the days to come \u2014 and pick up a copy of the magazine, on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>stands now!<\/i><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>And if you missed it, read Part 1 here.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2007_The_Fourth_Wall_Falls\"><\/span><strong>2007: The Fourth Wall Falls<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Supernatural<i>\u2019s fan-favorite yearly meta episodes, which poked fun at the industry, the fandom and everything in between, began in its sophomore season.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Kripke:<\/b> In \u201cHollywood Babylon\u201d [April 19, 2007], the guys were investigating murders on a horror movie set<i>.<\/i> [Actor] Gary Cole was the TV executive, and every note [in the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>] was a real note from The CW [Supernatural<i>\u00a0had moved from The WB the year prior<\/i>], word for word. They never noticed!<\/p>\n<p><b>Exec Producer Robert Singer:<\/b><b> <\/b>[Season 5\u2019s] \u201cChanging Channels\u201d [November 5, 2009] was originally about the Trickster [Richard Speight Jr.] throwing Sam and Dean into an alt-universe where they\u2019d be in a soap. I asked, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we go through <i>all<\/i> of the TV tropes?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Richard Speight Jr.:<\/b><b> <\/b>I\u2019d played the Trickster in several one-off episodes, but the reveal in \u201cChanging Channels\u201d [<i>that <\/i><i>the Trickster is actually the archangel Ga<\/i><i>briel<\/i>] is when everything shifted.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ackles: <\/b>To be honest, most of us were very nervous about breaking the fourth wall and almost making fun of ourselves.<\/p>\n<p><b>Kripke: <\/b>The last meta episode I was involved in was \u201cThe French Mistake.\u201d [<i>In <\/i><i>Season 6\u2019s February 25, 2011, entry, Sam and Dean arrive in an alt-universe as actors Jared Padal<\/i><i>ecki and Jensen <\/i><i>Ackles\u2026who play demon hunter brothers.<\/i>] Ben [Edlund, <i>SPN<\/i> writer] and I decided we were going to make the single most meta thing in all of TV history.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ackles: <\/b>The producers told us, \u201cWe want Sam and Dean to get thrown into an alternate universe where you\u2019re playing yourselves.\u201d I remember going, \u201cThat\u2019s a <i>terrible<\/i> idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Padalecki: <\/b>I thought we may have jumped the shark. The fans <i>loved<\/i> it.<\/p>\n<p><b>Exec Producer Andrew Dabb: <\/b>[Season 13\u2019s animated crossover] \u201cScoobynatural\u201d [March 29, 2018] might be the one [meta episode] that I wouldn\u2019t change anything about.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2008%E2%80%9309_Religious_Undertaking\"><\/span><strong>2008\u201309: Religious Undertaking<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i>For years, Kripke insisted <\/i><i>that, despite having demons aplenty on the show, <\/i><i>there would be no angels<\/i><i>. That changed in Season 4 with the addition of no-nonsense Castiel (Misha Collins).<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Kripke: <\/b>Between Seasons 3 and 4, I was brushing my teeth and [realized] we really needed angels. What occurred to me was, our angels could be just as big d&#8211;ks as the demons. Neither side cared about humanity. Once that clicked into place for me, it actually brought a lot of balance to that universe.<\/p>\n<p><b>Misha Collins:<\/b> [When I auditioned,] the script team didn\u2019t want to spoil that they were introducing angels. I was reading for the role of a demon. After eight takes, Eric said, \u201cOK, that looks good, but do it as an angel.\u201d I think I had a blank stare and gave a performance that was a bit robotic, which ultimately ended up being Castiel.<\/p>\n<p><b>Singer: <\/b>Castiel had one of the best entrances we\u2019ve ever had. He just shows up in the barn, and the visual effects guys did this great spread of wings against the wall. It was really dramatic.<\/p>\n<p><i>For Season 4\u2019s Heaven vs. Hell plotline, the series brought back seductive demon Ruby (introduced by Katie Cassidy in Season 3). All Rights Reserved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Genevieve Cortese Padalecki: <\/b>On my first day, everyone was in great spirits because they had just come back from the writers\u2019 strike. [<i>The 2007\u201308 hiatus shut down production from November to February.<\/i>] I met Jared on the day we were shooting our first scene. Because of a last-minute wardrobe switch, I was in my underwear. Jared walks in like this golden retriever and says, \u201cHow are you doing?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Padalecki: <\/b>The implication in the scene was that she and Sam have been doing naughty things. [Genevieve] didn\u2019t want anything to do with me! I really loved Sam\u2019s arc in Season 4, but that entire year is colored by my memory of falling in love.<\/p>\n<p><i>Ruby and Sam\u2019s bad romance ends with her <\/i><i>manipulating the younger Winchester into <\/i><i>drinking demon blood, thus freeing <\/i><i>the Devil (Mark Pellegrino) in the Season 4 finale, \u201cLucifer Rising\u201d (May 14, 2009). <\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Mark Pellegrino: <\/b>When [writer]<b> <\/b>Jeremy Carver inquired whether I\u2019d be interested in playing Lucifer, I said yes, sight unseen. I didn\u2019t read any scripts or audition. I like to look at Lucifer as a chocolate chip cookie: He\u2019s hard on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. Over time [<i>Collins was promoted to series regular for Season 5<\/i>], simply by exposure [to humans]\u2014he spent so much time with Sam and Dean\u2014he got to know them and they got to know him. And right up to the very end, he still has his idiosyncrasies.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2009_%E2%80%9CHello_Boys%E2%80%9D\"><\/span><strong>2009: \u201cHello, Boys\u201d<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i>Season 5 brought the wily crossroads demon Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard), later the <\/i><i>King of Hell, who served as the Winchesters\u2019 <\/i><i>frenemy in more than 70 episodes over eight years. In his intro, \u201cAbandon All Hope\u2026\u201d (November 19, 2009), as part of an attempt to banish Lucifer, he passed off the Colt\u2014a legendary revolver that can kill anything\u2014to the boys.<br \/><\/i><br \/><b>Mark A. Sheppard: <\/b>I was good friends with Kim Manners [the<i> <\/i><i>X-Files<\/i> vet was one of the original directors-producers], and he told me I had to do his show. Right after Kim passed [in January 2009 due to lung cancer], this role came up. I saw it as a cosmic joke. In my first scene, [to seal the deal for a soul,] I had to kiss another actor. The poor guy kept fighting me when it got to the kiss. It was monstrously funny.<\/p>\n<p>This, of course, was echoed later on with the Bobby and Crowley kiss [\u201cTwo Minutes to Midnight,\u201d May 6, 2010]. Poor Jim [Beaver] said, \u201cI\u2019m a reasonably accomplished actor, and all I\u2019m going to be remembered for is kissing Mark Sheppard!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2009%E2%80%9310_Chuck_Shurley%E2%80%A6God\"><\/span><strong>2009\u201310: Chuck Shurley\u2026God?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><i>Just before Lucifer entered the picture, viewers got Season 4\u2019s \u201cThe Monster at the End <\/i><i>of This Book\u201d (April 2, 2009)<\/i><i> and another major player: Chuck Shurley (Rob Benedict), the prophet and author behind a series of poorly selling <\/i>Supernatural<i> books. In the Season 5 ender, \u201cSwan Song\u201d (May 13, 2010)\u2014also <\/i><i>Kripke\u2019s final episode as showrun<\/i><i>ner before passing the baton to Gamble for Seasons 6 and 7\u2014Chuck, dressed in white, evaporates into thin air. The scene sets off <\/i><i>years of speculation on whether Chuck is the <\/i><i>show\u2019s absent God. (Spoiler alert: He is.)<br \/><\/i><br \/><b>Rob Benedict:<\/b> Toward the end of Season 5, Eric called me and said, \u201cYou are God, but I want fans to have their own interpretation about what you might be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Dabb: <\/b>We knew Chuck was God in Season 5, but it didn\u2019t come out until Season 11. It was established that Chuck was a writer and Eric asked, \u201cAre we going to be the jerks that make a writer God?\u201d And we were like, \u201cYeah, we\u2019re gonna do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Kripke: <\/b>Chuck was the stand-in for the writers. His pen name was Carver Edlund, for [writers] Jeremy Carver and Ben Edlund.
