Act now to protect public health.\u201d As the <strong>virus spreads<\/strong> in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta, the four premiers of those provinces have taken heat for mishandling the pandemic\u2019s second wave.<\/p>\n<p>A new\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/leger360.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Legers-Weekly-Survey-November-9th-2020-min-2.pdf\"><strong>Leger poll<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0that tracks first minister <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval ratings illustrates a gradual erosion of support almost across the board since March. But two premiers, Alberta\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Jason Kenney<\/strong> and Manitoba\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Brian Pallister<\/strong>, have dropped significantly\u2014all the way to just 44 and 42 per cent approval, respectively, for COVID-19 response measures. Ontario\u2019s\u00a0<strong>Doug Ford<\/strong> hasn\u2019t yet seen his support fall away, even as cases consistently hit new daily highs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time for a national response to COVID:<\/strong>\u00a0Scott Gilmore, writing in\u00a0<em>Maclean\u2019s<\/em>, is exhausted by mixed messaging and buck-passing from one level of government to another. It\u2019s the PM\u2019s job to lead, he writes, so the PM should lead.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Why are we doing so badly? You don\u2019t need a room full of epidemiologists to puzzle this out. Our Prime Minister mostly <strong>side-stepped responsibility<\/strong> and decided 10 different provincial premiers should manage a national pandemic. They in turn passed on responsibility to mayors and local health authorities. The result has been <strong>incompetence<\/strong>, <strong>chaos<\/strong> and <strong>death,<\/strong> with a Prime Minister who has decided it\u2019s all someone else\u2019s problem.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Depending on your preferred horse-race pollster, Trudeau\u2019s Liberals are either <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/angusreid.org\/federal-politics-covid-november\/\">statistically tied with<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Erin O\u2019Toole<\/strong>\u2018s Tories or eight points ahead. Angus Reid, which has the parties closer than <strong>Leger<\/strong>, also measured a six-point uptick in O\u2019Toole\u2019s favourability rating (to 36 per cent) and a nine-point increase in his unfavourables (to 40 per cent). The Leger poll shows a slim two-point <strong>Bloc Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois lead<\/strong> in Quebec over the Liberals (32-30).<\/p>\n<p><strong>One more poll:<\/strong> Cardus, a \u201cfaith-based think tank\u201d in Ottawa, asked Angus Reid to take the nation\u2019s temperature on <strong>medical assistance in dying<\/strong>. The pollster found that two-thirds of respondents \u201care concerned expanded MAiD will lead to people with mental health issues like depression <strong>choosing death<\/strong> rather than dealing with the underlying causes of their condition.\u201d A similar proportion \u201cfear expanded MAiD will lead to people with disabilities or those who are elderly feeling more pressure to choose death in order to <strong>avoid being a burden<\/strong> on others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today, scaled-down <strong>Remembrance Day<\/strong> ceremonies will <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.legion.ca\/remembrance\/remembrance-day\">sweep across Canada<\/a>\u00a0and mark the <strong>75th anniversary<\/strong> of the end of the Second World War. Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Julie Payette<\/strong> will preside over the ceremony at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. She\u2019ll be joined by\u00a0<strong>Debbie Sullivan<\/strong>, the 2020 National Silver Cross Mother. Sullivan\u2019s son, Lt(N) Christopher Edward Saunders, was <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/news\/mom-of-naval-officer-killed-in-2004-submarine-fire-named-silver-cross-mother-1.5170280\">killed during a fire<\/a> on board <strong>HMCS Chicoutimi<\/strong> in 2004. She will place a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of all mothers who\u2019ve lost children while they served in the Canadian Armed Forces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Was he joking?<\/strong> Yesterday\u2019s talker was all about U.S. Secretary of State\u00a0<strong>Mike Pompeo<\/strong>, who told reporters he expects a \u201csmooth transition to a second Trump administration\u201d before smirking a little at his own comments. As the president continues to make unfounded claims of electoral fraud and instruct federal agencies to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/us-policy\/2020\/11\/10\/trump-federal-budget-post-election\/\">plan for another Trump budget<\/a>, his envoy to the world appeared to make light of the disputed election result. Meanwhile, president-elect Joe Biden <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ddale8\/status\/1326263115651100672\/photo\/1\">spoke to more world leaders<\/a>.
