Chromebooks are built to run Google Chrome, but with the addition of Linux, you can install other browsers on your Chromebook including Microsoft Edge. Whether you want to try what Microsoft\u2019s browser has to offer or are fed up with Chrome, here\u2019s how to install Edge on Chrome OS.<\/p>\n

Since you\u2019ll be installing Microsoft Edge\u2019s latest Linux client, you will first need to enable Linux on your Chromebook if you haven\u2019t already.<\/p>\n

To do that, visit your Chromebook\u2019s \u201cSettings\u201d from either the app<\/a> drawer or the quick settings panel (by clicking on the time in the bottom-right corner of the home screen).<\/p>\n

Scroll down until you find \u201cLinux (Beta)\u201d and click the \u201cTurn On\u201d button beside it.<\/p>\n

\"Turn<\/p>\n

Select \u201cNext\u201d in the following window.<\/p>\n

Specify your Linux partition\u2019s username and disk size. Leave it at the default if you are not planning to install more than a few Linux apps. Hit \u201cInstall\u201d when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

\"Configure<\/p>\n

Your Chromebook should begin downloading and configuring Linux. It will automatically launch the Linux terminal when it\u2019s done. You can now proceed to install Microsoft Edge.<\/p>\n

Open \u201cGoogle Chrome\u201d and visit Microsoft Edge\u2019s download portal<\/a>. Click the blue \u201cDownload\u201d button below the \u201cDev Channel\u201dcard. In the pop-up, select \u201cAccept and Continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Double-click and launch the file that your Chromebook has just downloaded and then select \u201cInstall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Install<\/p>\n

Click the \u201cOK\u201d button to dismiss the confirmation window. Your Chromebook will take a minute or two to install Microsoft Edge, and once that\u2019s complete, the browser should be available in the app drawer.<\/p>\n

You can open Microsoft Edge and use the web browser as you would normally on any other traditional PC. When the Microsoft Edge app is active on your Chromebook, you can also right-click on its icon and pin it permanently to the row of apps present at the bottom of your screen.<\/p>\n

Just as you got Microsoft Edge on your Chromebook, you have the option to install any other compatible Linux app on Chrome OS.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
