Google rolled out Chrome version 86.0.4240.198 on Wednesday in response to two zero-day vulnerabilities discovered in the wild\u2014the fourth and fifth security flaws discovered in the browser<\/span> in the last three weeks alone.<\/p>\n

Although Google has not made details about the attacks involving the zero-days public, the company was reportedly alerted to the vulnerabilities by anonymous sources on Monday and Wednesday. The first three zero-days, which were found on October 20 and November 2,\u00a0were discovered internally by Google security researchers. <\/p>\n

In the changelog for Chrome 86.0.4240.198,<\/a><\/span> the security fixes are listed as an \u201cinapp<\/a>ropriate implementation in V8,\u201d and a \u201cuse after free in site isolation\u201d memory corruption bug. <\/p>\n

General<\/a>ly, zero-days are only exploited in a small number of selected targets, meaning there\u2019s no immedia<\/a>te cause for panic if your browser hasn\u2019t been updated in a while. Still, its recommended that users protect themselves by downloading Chrome 86.0.4240.198<\/a><\/span> when they can by \u201chelp\u201d and then \u201cabout Google Chrome\u201d on the browser\u2019s main menu. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
