Cities have already invested in contact-tracing wearables and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s, open data platforms, autonomous drones and crowd analytics to fight COVID-19, according to the report, and\u00a0smart grids, intelligent traffic management, autonomous vehicles, smart lighting and e-governance services are expected to gain traction when the pandemic passes.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"US246_trillion_market\"><\/span>US$2.46 trillion market<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, smart cities are forecast to generate business opportunities worth US$2.46 trillion by 2025 and Frost\u00a0 &amp; Sullivan expects at least 26 smart cities to be established by then.<\/p>\n<p>Malabika Mandal, Visionary Innovation Group Industry Analyst, Frost &amp; Sullivan, said: \u201cSmart cities will focus on data-driven and connected infrastructure, which will lead to higher adoption of technologies like AI and 5G. They will prioritize more digitalized services and a strong data analytics infrastructure, leading to increased spending toward technology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is no universal definition of what constitutes a smart city. Frost &amp; Sullivan characterizes it as those with \u201cactive and verifiable pursuits\u201d in at least five of eight areas: smart governance and education; smart healthcare; smart buildings; smart mobility; smart infrastructure; smart technology; smart energy; and smart citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Mandal told<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Cities Today<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>that by this definition there are no truly smart cities yet. Sixteen of the 26 leading cities are expected to be in North America and Europe, with the rest in Asia and Oceana.\u00a0Mandal said Amsterdam, Seoul, Singapore and Copenhagen are among the frontrunners .<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"COVID_recovery\"><\/span>COVID recovery<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>More than 70 percent of global smart city spending by 2030 will be from the\u00a0United States,\u00a0Western Europe and\u00a0China, the report finds.<\/p>\n<p>Archana Vidyasekar, Visionary Innovation Group Research Director at Frost &amp; Sullivan, commented: \u201cNow more than ever, the strategy of being technology-first, optimistic and focused on \u2018smart\u2019 is critical. While COVID-19 has largely been a health crisis, it has disrupted city ecosystems and infrastructure tremendously. Smart technologies offer innovative solutions that can reverse the damage and bring some respite, if not normalcy. For instance, digital contact tracing can play a critical role in empowering citizens with knowledge of COVID-impacted areas and promote safer urban movement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other analysts have suggested that the pandemic\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cities-today.com\/covid-19-set-to-curb-us-smart-city-projects\/\">could curb smart city spending in the short-term<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>as local governments face severe budget challenges, although\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cities-today.com\/us-cities-look-to-infrastructure-and-tech-investment-for-covid-recovery\/\">research from the U.S. Conference of Mayors<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>found that investing in infrastructure, including technology, is US mayors\u2019 top im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te and long-term priority for economic recovery.
