That\u2019s going away. Starting on\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/photos\/storage-changes\">June 1, 2021<\/a>, Google Photos will no longer offer free unlimited storage. Here\u2019s what you need to know.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_Changing_No_More_Free_Unlimited_Storage\"><\/span>What\u2019s Changing: No More Free Unlimited Storage<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google Photos only offered unlimited free storage for photos and videos backed up in \u201cHigh Quality,\u201d which it defines as 16 megapixels for photos and 1080p resolution videos. If you chose to upload photos and videos in High Quality (instead of Original Quality), Google would let you upload an unlimited number of them.<\/p>\n<p>Starting June 1, 2021, Google Photos is losing its free unlimited storage for \u201cHigh Quality\u201d photos and videos. After that date, all the photos you upload will count toward your Google account\u2019s storage limit. This limit is 15GB and is shared among services like Google Photos, Google Drive, and Gmail.<\/p>\n<p>If you need more storage for your photos, you\u2019ll have to pay up for a Google One storage plan.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>: Any existing photos you\u2019ve already uploaded are grandfathered in and won\u2019t count toward your storage. For example, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le only offers 5GB of free storage with iCloud.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to keep using Google Photos, you can monitor how much space you\u2019ve used and how much you have available from the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/one.google.com\/storage\">Google One Storage website<\/a>. Google also has a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/one.google.com\/storage\/management\">Storage Management page<\/a> that will help you free up storage in your Google account.<\/p>\n<p>You can also buy more storage via <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/one.google.com\/about\">Google One<\/a>. Plans start at $1.99 per month for 100 GB of storage.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Download_All_Your_Google_Photos\"><\/span>How to Download All Your Google Photos<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Perhaps you\u2019d like to leave Google Photos behind. You can download an archive of all the photos and videos you\u2019ve ever uploaded to Google Photos from the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/takeout.google.com\/\">Google Takeout website<\/a>. (Google Takeout lets you download other data stored in your Google account, too.)<\/p>\n<p>You can then upload the photos to whatever other photo service you want to use\u2014or keep your photos on your own devices. Now that it will no longer offer unlimited storage, it might not be the best option for many people who were already using it.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/photos\/\"><strong>iCloud Photos<\/strong><\/a>: If you use an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or other Apple devices, you might want to use Apple\u2019s iCloud Photos. If you take photos with your iPhone, it\u2019s nicely integrated without any third-party apps required. iCloud Photos does have more limited free storage\u2014only 5 GB free\u2014but you can get 50GB of storage for $0.99 per month. You can even purchase 200GB of storage for $2.99 per month and share that with your entire family. (The 50GB plan can\u2019t be shared.) You can also pay for iCloud storage as part of an Apple One subscription bundle.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/b\/?node=13234696011&amp;tag=hotoge-20\">Amazon Photos<\/a><\/strong>: If you already pay for Amazon Prime, Amazon offers free unlimited full-resolution photo storage. Amazon isn\u2019t the first service many people think of when it comes to photo storage, but it\u2019s a good option.<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/onedrive\/online-cloud-storage\"><strong>Microsoft OneDrive<\/strong><\/a>: The OneDrive app can automatically upload photos and videos from your phone to your OneDrive storage. OneDrive is integrated into Windows 10 and available on other platforms. If you pay for Microsoft 365, you have 1 TB of OneDrive storage space to store all those photos.<\/li>\n<li><a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/\"><strong>Dropbox<\/strong><\/a>: If you already use and pay for Dropbox, you could upload your photos to Dropbox instead of Google Photos. Like other services, Dropbox\u2019s app can automatically upload photos from your phone. However, Dropbox only offers 2 GB of free space and only offers <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/individual\/plans-comparison\">more expensive storage plans<\/a> starting at $9.99 per month. Dropbox likely isn\u2019t the best choice unless you\u2019re already invested in it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Google Photos is still a fine photo storage solution, especially if you use Android devices and other Google services.
